pesky richmond and gulf harbour doing racing on the same day!!

Just wondering what everyone thought of this in the latest boating nz? Pretty disappointing that they couldn't do a proper article on the race. Not to disparage Josh and Damons awesome performance but this just reads like an advert for Sun Fast and Orakei marine. What about the fantastic performances from all the other boats in the race Provincial cowboy a 40 year old design which won overall. Activator the super fast cruising boat which surprised even themselves. Blink with Vesna who did half the race with a broken collarbone. Squealer having an absolute mare getting to Welling

Hey all has anyone got a simrad or similar log paddle wheel lying around that they don't want or need? The one on einstein has lost its magnetic paddle wheel and it seems a shame to have to replace the whole log. thanks .

Hey Ken Try not to have any kids on these dates. I vote for sticking to the medium, long, short format. Great to have a get together at the end of the last race as its hard to socialise when you come all the way from Gulf harbour and other marina's.

So we're pretty much all set for RNI which starts on Saturday 2pm. Safety check - done job list - down to about 5 items Crew - kind of ready Looks light for the first leg which will suit us well. Going to try for a couple of sail check sails on Thursday and Friday just to see if anything jumps out at us. Here We go !!!!!!

Sounds like a storm in a teacup to me. I'd be ALOT more concerned about the idiots piloting fizz nastys recently. 2 incidents last weekend of fizz nastys doing 30 knots plus and coming to grief; one piling into rocks off cooks beach and landing one of the crew in ICU another piling into another fizz nasty and sinking it. when will they learn!! as for the jet skiis in Manly what a bunch of cretins!! I heard the same interview and was agahast. unfortunately they interviewed the commodore of waikawa bay as well on the boaties side. he didn't come across very well. The daughter of one of the chaps killed in bar accident a few weeks ago was all for making LJ compulsory on all boats. I can see LJ laws coming on fast !!!

I agree with Fish. I can't see how some constructive comments on a forum can hold us as legally responsible for shane. I am a firm believer in adventure and all for the younger fellas going for it now that I am no longer considered such a young fella. Rather than condemn him I'm all for offering sage advice and mentoring. NZL1 you are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine.

Conrad is a total legend !!! I so hope he gets some serious sponsorship at the end of this race.

Part 2

From sailing on the boat last weekend with these fitted, they are awesome. I think smithy fitted around 2 each end on the larger floor boards and 1 each end on the smaller ones. they are easy to lift the floorboards but hold them securely in place. No lanyard required the floorboards just pop up with a sharp tug. Great invention.

yeah 10k should do it. It depends how much you get done, and how much you do yourself. Squid is worth it. she is a very tidy boat.

part 2 of the Provincial cowboy coastal vid attached. the quality isn't quite there as I accidently deleted all the raw video and then managed to restore it, at a slight;y lower quality level. I also forgot what time we finished. it was more like 11pm not 2am. wups.
