  1. You don't have to take them to court ! You have an opportunity to vote in representatives that will control Panuku et al via SoCI and KPI's. Good luck with that but it's what those who promote democratic process would have you believe can happen. Not in the supershitty. It's divide and rule and it works
  2. OK Priscilla...I give in. Certainly when I knew him that didn't seem to be in his DNA. Still he who pays the piper calls the tune !
  3. You guys need to lighten up. Mine was a sarcastic crack at the pillagers and plunderers that are the powers that be. Of course I agree with you !
  4. Bit rough on Kevin. If he wasn't doing the job someone else would. Panuku,ACC,Guvmit are responsible for this trampling of the underdog(s). As stated all boaties are rich beyond description in the eyes of most non boaties. Perhaps a bit of openness, honesty, transparency and understanding of how the other 90% live would help. Fat chance !
  5. Hi BOIG...Sorry but just clicked on wrong button and zeroed out your post credit. I was just looking to see who didn't agree and bizzo.Seems I'm techno deficit. Agree with your post and I just don't get why 20 odd out of 1200 get to influence the rules. If they don't like it don't look. For the most part there is reasonable discussion about controversial matters and for those of us who won't contaminate our lives with F/B et al I for one find it interesting. And allowing guests on broadens the discussion. BTW missing KM. What was his sin ? Hope it was serious as it could be censorship creepin
  6. Leave it alone. There's some interesting discussion on here. If you don't like it don't open it........
  7. Great to note performance of NZ boats
  8. That's yacht racing.......but not for TV ! You have to think, not only watch ,to know whats going on .
  9. Yeah...it's amazing stuff. But think about the fact of how did they know ,in those days,if there was really something there or were they going to paddle off the edge of the world.
  10. This so called Government are a bunch of incompetent twits. They are not in control of NZ. The bureaucrats are . That it has got this far is proof. Understand next on the list are Yacht Club patrol boats. And another 17 months of them to go ....plus who's going to replace them ?
  11. Please read and absorb the posts Dr.W. My posts clearly state Global Warming is a hoax. Climate Change is real. If you don't understand the difference then...........BTW your noble efforts to save the planet deny the facts that nuclear power is a pollutant ,the planes you are'nt flying on fly anyway and electric cars equally pollute the planet the same as every other vehicle, your boat's engine the same, the high speed train pollutes. It's all just in how you want to dress it up. But ocean pollution and plundering....now there's a real issue.
  12. Global Cooling ? You read it here first !
  13. Climate change yes. Global warming is a subjective topic !
  14. Absolutely unacceptable .Unlike the Global Warming hoax this is real. If you kill the ocean and its life the (in)human race is really stuffed. And unlike GW this is preventable. Good cause here BP. Keep beating this drum.
  15. Stand by for yet another tax. Because we are captive identifiable and rich ( to every non boatie anyone who has a boat is rich) you can expect another tax through your mooring and marina. And boaties are the victims ! How does this work ?
  16. The ultimate objective of City Council is to eliminate patrolling, ticketing and prosecuting involving people. They'll put up Rego recognition and have the computer issue tickets just like speedtax cameras. This way they improve bottom line by around 33% by cost elimination.
  17. Just picked up Dr.W response to my post last page. 2 points. First....National / Labour/boats not much difference and was having a crack at current Guvmit because they are continuing the attack. 2nd.point I'm not even an alley cat let alone a fat cat.One of the soon to be ex boat owners who succumbed to the financial onslaught. Interesting cruising at Xmas If your boat was under 40 ft you were in the minority. Few 930's 88's H28's Chilly Bins Piedy's whereas a few years ago they were everywhere.Same with launches.
  18. 600 odd pensioners represent only half the danger of 600 normal pensioners. NZ has hung on well considering that overseas sailing has been a rich mans sport for a long time. But time has now caught up with us so all you pesky minions had better get used to it. And under a Labour Guvmit and their sock puppet Full Goof too ? They are certainly turning the show upside down for the Fat Cats. Just like Roger Douglas & Co. and in a short time. They've got to act quick as they should get the biffo in 18 mths ?
  19. Yep...I got asked leaving a supermarket of all places. The guy offered the options and I told him its BS. asked him if he had ever been to Opua marina when he raised the issue and said he hadn't. This is another fait accompli by Regional Councils. Once they get in sync watch out for the hidden agendas. No anti foul will be on the list. Notwithstaning all the ships being anti fouled and bringing in the pests in ballast water. Which of course they all discharge at the 200 mile limit. But The RC's can't get at them !
  20. You also have to figure in NZ low wage economy, exchange rate, taxes. Fact is that when demand exceeds supply the human factor of greed kicks in and the gouging proliferates !
  21. The liferaft rule blew us out of coastal racing years ago. It was bloody ridiculous for some of those and unnecessary for the others....for all the reasons now given for disbanding it. For some ,with rafts,it became a status symbol and for the rest an insurmountable financial hurdle when we were struggling with all the other expense. So we quit. And its too late to get us back as we do other sport now and just club racing occasionally. Well done to all those "Safety Moguls" who played their part in the ever diminishing entry lists. Plenty of safety industry input into creating those rules ? Th
  22. Gee Priscilla we do have something in common. My first boat was very similar .We found it floating in the harbour when I was about 7. Had years of fun. Could only dog paddle,no lifejackets ,buoyancy tanks, or patrol boats. Dad didn't know where we were. Gone all day in the school holidays and the experience of self reliance and doing it myself stood me in great stead. Nowadays Dad would be prosecuted for neglect !
  23. I think it was Xmas 1965 - 66 RNZYS declined Infidel's entry in B.o I race because it was only a harbour racer. Is that correct ? Sold soon after and won Transpac as Ragtime. Which it still is. Tom Clark and john Spencer were sailing trailblazers !
  24. Great nostalgia there guys. Must have been a good time to be sailing. Men were men, races were real races? And the old boy network probably prevailed.? Not much changes ?
  25. Really smart rules ! Give them 24 hours to leave after they have arrived .Duh. The bad things have already been delivered. Might have thought that the ship has to deliver a clean hull certificate to its next port before it leaves for NZ just like NZ yachts plying between marinas. Oh that's right the Regional Councils can only get at us through Marinas. Otherwise its the wild west with an occasional arrest by the Sherrif .
