We also got bitten by what I call sea lice -though I believe they are really the larvae, only in Wairoa Bay (four island) this year -the rest of the BOI was fine, swimming numerous times a day. Ignore them and they go away after 3-4 days , but kids itch them constantly...

There is something forming in the Coral Sea area, and conditions (sea temp) are right for it to come down, hopefully we will get Mahurangi Classics away before anything arrives we are due after last year. Though personally no complaints with wonderful Northland cruising.

Translated 9 advisor, and whats more I see they have recalled their ace navigator straight line Simon for the recently vacated skippers job!
-
Got back from the bay just in time for the start, good breeze to shoot them away, at least no one anchored on the course-for those with long memories, though the Raven 31 that motoring went in front of White Shadow off Narrowneck was a bit silly.

Thats the only time I have heard of this happening with a Mariner , back when Fred was in high production and his wife delivered weekly we sold hundreds of them.
-
Start on Sunday straight off the Squadron for the third leg and a turning mark at Orakei Bouy for shorebound spectators, I wonder who suggested that good idea.

All Yanmar dealers should have the spacer in stock

If you are taking a boat North for Bay week and would like your car brought up about the 12th so that you can drive back to Auckland -I am available. (Will need to get North to pick up my own yacht).
-
The two boats mentioned above -no one was hit by the boom initially at least.

Hope the Rum racers enjoy seeing Esprit d Equip finishing -and dont get in the way..

Was wonderful to meet some of the European supporters and welcome this traditional style race to Auckland , deserving line honours winners Translated 9 pushed harder and navigated smarter than some potentially much faster craft on this long leg, check them all out as they arrive in the Viaduct between now and Christmas (with two still coming in the new year)

Yahoo off to Christchurch we go again , hope the weather was like this year-fantastico
-
The PR side has been a disaster, and even the yacht clubs havent been given info packs to distribute-never mind runabout man who nips out there once a year and doesnt follow conventional media.
-
Into the Tasman now-with each taking their own route-Marie Tabarly went above Tasmania
-
Yes I like the Bay shallower and warmer water with many options

Last one to Nagles Cove gets a cold and dirty swim 😆

The silence is a worry for the NZ round ... and European Media saying the NZ round is cancelled ???

As a detached observer still with LA that work -I see a terrible amount of money being spent on Lipo batteries without anyone upgrading their charging setup, this seems to defeat the purpose as they are not getting: 1 Full Charge 2 Rapid recharging 3 Long life 4 Real safety At the price difference of traditional LA or even quality AGM batteries -I have yet to be convinced -also the issues with solar voltage etc etc. I think starting with a quality alternator and charge controller may be a better investment for those wishing to upgrade......

The Westhaven side was sorted, they were not going to close Bayswater / Northcote I dont know where these made up tales are originating?? Plenty watched in Lyttelton from their houses and the surrounding hills.

A great little series hosted over this past weekend by the Milford Cruising Club, plenty of breeze, yachtsmen and Women helming aged from 14-69 plus . A few swimmers (but no one let go) Real yachting is alive in Auckland -with ex AC , Whitbread and Olympic yachties in the mix with junior sailors too. Well done to the sponsors

Yes had the same -I believe Vero are moving away from marine cover, they want shore power cert? I am not plugged in! They want Gas cert -I only have it for BBQ stored outside!

Funnily enough 80% of that effluent was diverted to the new outlet directly under the proposed grandstands, I have seen the footage that the council did not want let out, and it is still seeping out there.

No shipping disruption, possible hold ups for Sealink car ferry that is all, there is talk of a legal challenge over the tank farm land maybe this is the issue as the other Panuku excuses simply do not hold water.
