ScottiE 174
front 3 have all tacked in the last hour - probably on the change in breeze to the west.

ScottiE 174
anyone know what's going on with RTII and Scarlett? Is there a risk of entering the harbour with so little wind?
grant 44
8-10 knots of southerly so shouldn't be any issues....
eighty8 1
Ran Tan also looks like turned around heading NW - maybe the tracker position is out, or something local going on to avoid harbour
Neil 35
Was thinking it looks a bit like a combo of no wind and the Karori rip running?
ScottiE 174
its weird because at0915 RTII were doing 5kts in the wrong direction. High tide was at 0845ish so that must have somiething to do with it.
MarkMT 68
AIS confirms location and speed roughly west. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:174.6/centery:-41.3/zoom:
Farina 2
They will have adverse tide along the south coast until around 1400 hrs. Right now they have at between 1.5 and 3.0 knots right on the nose.
mattm 106
Strange, I guess we might get a better idea at the 10:30 update. Predict wind still has 7 - 10 knots in the area Ran Tan are in, can't see them going backwards due to current in that breeze. I don't think they got close enough to the entrance for anything local happening there to worry them, the entrance is also plenty wide enough for ferries/ ships and them to go through together. If you ask some of the crews from the Central Triangle race, you can *attempt* to enter in no wind, may just take a while. The distance back to Blink has halved. Hope everything is OK out there. Farina 2
a good tactician would call for the masthead anchor,
eighty8 1
couple of earthquakes at 8am but no sign of a tsunami warning on civil defence, weird
Farina 2
Scarlet has also hit the tide at cape terawhiti as well.
mattm 106
Farina, where do you get your wind info from? They will be hirting if it is just tide and no wind, they are going backwards at 3 knots, and Miss Scarlet going forward at 3 knots. If they wait long enough, I'm sure Blink will be pleased to show them the way.
Farina 2
Tide can get up to 7 knots along the south coast from sinclair head to cape terawhiti.
