Fish 0
Currently on the tracker 0.3 of a mile between the first 4 boats, but 2nd, 3rd and 4th are all going backwards!!! 2 miles from the finish TToP on a different part of the course, 3.3 nm back ,closing at 5.6 knts, buffolo girls go round the outside?
JK 28
1.2nm to go & .13nm between 1st & 2nd! 3kn of wind. That's a closer finish than a Wednesday night harbour race!
eruptn 98
One has to ask if this is a fair way too finish a race like this ...
JK 28
2 boat lengths Brunel to Mapfre - 1st to 2nd, still 1nm to go.
khayyam 89
brutal. most of the fleet with negative vmg! could you/would you anchor up?
Island Time 1,278
Yes, I’d anchor
JK 28
0.5nm to go - looks like Mapfre just pulled ahead. Will come down to who does the last two tacks best!
eruptn 98
Mapfre has taken it
muzled 140
Wow, like a phoenix from the ashes. That gives Mapfre a 3 point lead over Dongfeng which bodes well for Tuke to do the triple crown.
Clipper 358
Id have said fizzer of a finish, not cracker! Must be gutting for Brunel.
Fish 0
What a shithole of a place to finish a race, fog, strong tides and no wind. Is this really the US of A's premier sailing location? On a positive note, big ups to Volvo race management's new strategy to avoid local fishermen being killed as boats finish. No chance of that happening when the premier round the world race boats are drifting in the tide, and carrying out world champion anchoring...
Black Panther 1,675
Sounds like the Sydney Hobart race
Battleship 100
One word; Robbed Its an ocean race of what, 5000 miles? shouldn't be decided by a drifter up a river I don't think anyone was robbed. I would have preferred Brunel won but this happens often, that's yacht racing.
MarkMT 68
What a shithole of a place to finish a race, fog, strong tides and no wind. Is this really the US of A's premier sailing location? No doubt depends on the time of year - it's still Fall in the US, but I raced there in the summer of 2014 and it was a pretty impressive location. Consistent breeze and a nice town.
