war machine 0
Young 88 War Machine battle ready for this one. Only 4 minutes elapsed time separated the first 5 88's in the last race and no doubt this will be another ding dong. Hardly have time for a medicinal rum when there is that much competition! Great new track with some delightful scenery, be nice if we can do some dolphin watching again on this one. Jokes aside vote of thanks to the SSANZ planners. There are enough twists and turns to make it interesting for all of the 80 miles. We have even got a majority vote on the correct location of Shearer Rock buoy: https://www.facebook.com/events/228884514522610/permalink/298485127562548/ Forecasts showing two different views right now. Anyone know if Predictwind's Tracker app will be back up and running for this race? See you out there Mike PS Sorry about the giant photos .. posting on a lunch break and no time to shag around downsizing.
Freedom GBE 27
Kite up running from Cow and Calf to Black rocks should be magical. Sunnies on, my good friend is making bacon and egg buns and a cold coffee. Cant wait. Need to go for a swim to clean the boat before we go.
war machine 0
This photo was posted by Mr Cam Thorpe SSANZ Champion volunteer extraordinaire. Check this link https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10160770798950442&set=p.10160770798950442&type=3&theater I have this mark at 36° 36.487' S 174° 55.340' E but buyer beware applies with all things GPS posted by amateurs Any SSANZ officials or other old or young salts able to confirm the coordinates? A damn good googling failed to find them and I have learned to view Navionics with healthy skepticism. Photo won't be much use in dark. The old school chart and Navionics show it as Q (3) 10s which if I remember my old nav lessons right is quick flashing 3 x every 10 seconds...
Jon 390
Go around in the daylight It’s an eastern cardinal mark so 3 flashes as in 3 o’clock for them old enough to remember clocks with hands on them It’s the only marker out there that looks anything like the photo above, and it’s the first and only one you will see coming from gannet rock My navionics also puts it at the same co ordinance as War Machine posted above. If you can’t find it call Neil, he’s doing the Brisbane to Keppel race this weekend so I’m sure he will give you lots of advice And get there before dark then we will be finishing not too late, with a southerly it's going to be a reach fest by the looks. Jon 390
We (Pie) are working on the trackers They are working but not showing on the screen yet for some reason I’ll email everyone if we sort it.
Jon 390
In light of the forecast I thought I’d better post a link to the short courses The decision to shorten will be made or not on Saturday morning but just so you have time to prepare. here are the alternatives. http://ssanz.co.nz/documents/eventsPDFs/CourseInformationShortonly.pdf
raz88 97
Email me at the following racing@ssanz.co.nz I tried sending to this address and got a message back saying my mail couldn't be delivered?
Jon 390
Then try this one symaara@icloud.com Apparently Neil has stuffed up the course map for the longest short course and then gone and got on a plane to do the Brisbane to Keppel race this weekend So I’ll look into it but if your looking for a laugh Neil is sailing on Mondo a Sydney 38 The forecast is light against the EAC, so whilst your drifting around on Saturday check out their track on YB trackers, last year they pulled out 2/3rds of the way and still miss the flight home I’ll check out the courses when I get home
Ed 144
In light of the forecast I thought I’d better post a link to the short courses The decision to shorten will be made or not on Saturday morning but just so you have time to prepare. here are the alternatives. http://ssanz.co.nz/documents/eventsPDFs/CourseInformationShortonly.pdf The SI's and the words in that link say Motuihe to Starboard for the NZ rigging course, but the picture is drawn passing Motuihe to port. I presume the SI's take precedence....
Jon 390
This attached is the correct short course for the NZ Rigging Divisions No decision has been made on shortening yet so prepare to sail the normal courses
Battleship 100
Good call. See what the weather brings. Burning lots of diesel out here at the moment. See you Saturday.
philstar 61
I reckon short course would be very sensible looking at the current weather forecast
