Question When does an grounded wreck become abandoned officially ?
-
Martin that’s clever for a cruising boat wouldn’t work on a race boat that wants to peel headsails
-
Try clamping it in a vice and run a hacksaw through it but don’t over tighten the vice Maybe a new key but epoxy also sounds good
-
If your not looking at doing class regattas buy the one that’s best setup that you can afford motors are the biggest thing then standing rigging, you will spend more doing a boat up than buying one that’s done

It’s a French thing, lots of the big shorthanded events there have a prologue Thinking is a short race will keep turnaround time to a minimum as fleet will be closer so minimising chances of sailors getting infected between legs Plus a one off race wasn’t what we originally planned ( I know 2 races isn’t 3 but it’s better than 1 ) If we’ve been too conservative then we apologise but our understanding is this can happen and we want to give everyone enough time to prepare. Working on finalising courses at the moment, high probability that they will be somewhat triangu

PredictWind yes not free but they have lots of extra ones around that is really useful

Not sure, keep an eye open for a Wright 11 called La Di Da

Either your names Mike or I have someone you should meet. Picture Towson 32, stern lazarette, two legs waving in the air. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.

Soon, another week as we are just finalising SI’s Poulito has been told they can enter the country on a sports exemption so are in the process of applying Your end of the fleet is mostly unchanged
-
Our understanding is yes We may need to watch numbers at briefing, stopovers and Prize givings Fortunately we are at 43 entries so with race management we will be right on or just under 100 people Biggest worry would be the reintroduction of regional boarders, no talk of this however so fingers crossed. if we can sail but not across boarders then we will still run the event within the Akl boundaries in some form, is the backup plan anyhow.

storing paper charts on board - whats your method?
Jon replied to aardvarkash10's topic in MarineTalk
Best storage I’ve seen for paper charts was on a wooden yacht with deck beams with two bunny cords fixed so charts stowed rolled up under cabin top Says he who sailed fro Turkey to NZ via Panama without any paper charts. -
We saw flying fish in Port Abercrombie in the first week of the year, blue water inside the barrier too which is not that normal, so where there’s flying fish there will be mahi

No, I’ve got a power point just below that’s powered by a 300W inverter, I also use it for phone charging etc Old one was 24” and 12volt, replacement was over $800 and only one option as not a common size any more Replaced with 32” smart tv $250 plus $100 inverter that I already had

Tell you the truth, I had similar issues Ended up binning TV and replacing it with a smart tv with Netflix installed, I just hotspot tv off my phone now and it works Probably an age thing

Speaking of strange messages I keep getting one or two targets showing in my target list of boats that are thousands of miles away, up to 8000nm They are in range or I’d not pick them up, so either they are transmitting an incorrect position or my raymarine system is receiving it incorrectly anyone else with this issue ?

Lots of boats left GB this morning on the easterly today A few arrived this afternoon Fitzroy looked normal to light this afternoon
-
Left Moturua Is (rabbit) at 0900 this morning Anchoured in Red Cliffs, 1245 Nice little downwind sail 33nm Saw 12 to 14kts apparent in the channel doing 9 to 10kts so probably 24kts wind speed
