    SSANZ Triple 2021

No, if I said otherwise I’d only be speculating, the rules seem to be being made up as they go along

    Four missing kids

The biggest crime was crossing into a level 2 area without current Covid tests me thinks
  7. I’m picking the Orcas are after the sailors livers, for the rum mostly
  8. Looks like too much topmost backstay probably only need to use this with masthead gear on Also you may need to reef a lot earlier than you think with that squaretop main, bring it down to height of forestay at as low as 12-15 knots (it is a Ross boat after all, they go best standing up) Also if you’ve only just bought it don’t trust that the rig and sail are setup for each other
  9. I’d go #6 and 12mm chain but as above ask the bondage man as everyone above says you will be blown away by how hard they dig in, I’ve pulled ours up and had two or three metres plus of chain clogged with mud because the anchor has just kept going deeper, also the shape doesn’t allow it to fall any way but point down, theses rollbar anchors look to me to be an afterthought to fix a design fault
  10. I have a excel #5 it says it’s for 12-15m boats, Ma’ara is 15.23m and close to 20 tonnes fully loaded, so should have a #6 but when I tried it the point of the anchor hit the bow stem Grant was great to deal with said here take a #6 and see if it will fit, if not come back and try the #5, he also said that because they work so well you will be fine with a slightly undersized one. Boat had a very large plough before and we managed to drag that in all sorts of exotic locations around the world. ‘The Excel has dragged a couple of times but always in very windy conditions in shallow wat
  11. Another way is make a timber surround out of a dark wood so it looks different and not like a poor match ???

  13. Paul, I’d say more importantly the hull shape and balance of the boat are way more important than is it MH or Frac. tweaky boats that have to be driven over every wave may be fun for a while but get very tiring to sail offshore Whereas a balanced boat with a nice motion will take you much further, I’m a big fan of Beale boats for this reason as they are really well balanced or the 33 and 11.6 that I’ve sailed were. Both of these I’ve sailed for hours without touching the helm, why, just because I could. Both would come up slightly when pressed and drop off in the lulls. This makes f
  14. We need some leadership from the Cindy kindy which makes it legal to ask for proof of vax and exclude people or not as per there vaccination status. Then we can organise events with some kind of structure to base them around. I know you don’t need to say “Tell him he’s dreaming”
  15. Best thing would have been to confirm Auckland at the end of the last cup and built on the momentum plus giving confidence to set a campaign around. Not a good way to get anyone to commit when not even the host club knows what’s going to happen

    SSANZ Race D

Probably canceled by the looks unless something radical happens. How do you plans anything in this environment, end of October seemed a long way ahead, over two months when we set the date, who would have thought you still can go racing. We had a loose plan of running a rum race with prize giving after with say Hard Labour inviting out of town 1020s crews to sail together etc. more a social event. But even trying to organise this is a stab in the dark at this point. Now we are even worried about the Evolution Northern Triangle, seeing as it sails into 3 regions.
  17. 123mm ish centres Probably 4 13/16” Take 1/4” bolt
  18. Talk is possible delay until end of March ish Things have to change before we can run the Delta race Now just hoping this madness doesn’t effect the Evolution Northern Triangle
  19. I was out in the firth on Wednesday and they should have used waterproof paint as you can’t see the line. But on a serious not there was lots of Akl based boats fishing the farms on the coromandel side

    SSANZ Triple 2021

SSANZ has an announcement about an announcement for Lewmar Race Delta! We want to run this race but right now we don’t rate our chances. In the current Level 3 - Step 1 environment- it wouldn’t be possible to run this race. It may be possible at step 2 or step 3 but the rules keep changing so we can’t say for certain if we could. What we do know is to run the race safely and the way we would want to we need - at minimum: - Entered yachts to have two skippers from two different bubbles allowed - Both skippers to be allowed below decks - for safety reasons - A race management b
