  1. Me too and I have managed to get there a couple of times a year for the last 10. Was around the back when the lock down dropped so had to scuttle back to Whangamata. We go March and June if you want to join a loose group. Oh by the way I have gone to that dark side so mostly on a Salthouse 35 these days. Almost a proper boat. LOL
  2. Scuttlebutt reports postponement this morning. (It is April 01 in USA)
  3. Gt Barrier Radio channel 1 vhf. This is a private radio operated by Emmy and has coverage over most of the island. Annual subscription $90.00
  4. Great footage. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Its also possible water from two colliding waves fell onto the deck or cabin top. I have experienced this and it was a massive force. Modern rounded decks and cabin tops are quite flexible.
  6. Try vinegar. It removes epoxy from hands so might work. If you try it let us know how it goes.

    A new seal

Interesting, I don't usually listen to "pod casts " not trying to denigrate anyone, but it came over to me as some sort of advertorial to me. Haven't quite figured out quite what for.

    Anchor chain

May be you could use anchor without chain in calm conditions and slide a prepared weight down line if it becomes windy. Save cost of chain. Less chafe would be advantage of a short piece of chain.
  10. Whananaki has a small store by camp ground near school. Only been by road so not sure about access into harbour. You could park off ocean beach and cross harbour on foot bridge which lands near the school.

  14. Alice Springs Aust. Has a transport museum that features early outback transport. One exhibit is a 1950,s american station wagon set up for extended outback travel.water bladders are inner tubes and it even sported a gas producer plant tacked on to the back to run the vehicle when petrol was scarce. It had a chainsaw engine attached to a generator for emergency battery charging. One of those would clear the bay!
  15. Sorry tried to be too brief. My boat has an Inverter/ charger already fitted. So can be charged from shore power up to 70 amps 14 volts. I substitute a small 1700 Watt gen set that produces 230 volts for shore power when cruising. After using the main engine to bulk charge for 10 or 15 minutes and the charge amps come down to around 40 amps I shut down main engine and let gen set provide 230 volts to Inverter/charger. The gen set is quite happy with this load and settles down to complete the charge at 1500 rpm. Minimal background noise. The gen set when not charging can handle the toaster, o
  16. 230 Volts through invertor when main engine charge drops to 40 amps. Genset in low speed at about 40 amps 12 volt invertor charge output
  17. Have thought the same and researched small diesels. Can't find any around 1 HP. If stuck with petrol may as well use small portable genset as I have done.
  18. My Shindaiwa brush cutter is a hybrid 2-4 stroke. It uses a four stroke cycle but lubrication is maintained by oil in the fuel passing through the sump. This eliminates energy wasted stirring oil. It is responsive quiet easy to start and has been running for 10 years so far. Not sure of capacity, about 40cc I think. Later models are described as 2 stroke so may have moved on or maybe to prevent wrong fuel being added.
  19. Grocery store walking distance to jetty. Not sure about picture theatre.
