  1. we have a kiwi prop and on a yanmar sail drive and use prop speed, HMB boat spray do it when I haul out, I get at least 2 years between applications, very happy with it. and yes greasing is required about every 10 months ,when I start having trouble going into reverse its time for a grease, I wouldn't attempt it in the water tho , probably drop the the little screws.
  2. im turning 60 shortly and yes ,already had my fair share of cancery bits removed, I just got a new hat from Torpedo 7, wide brim with a neck flap, also has a stiff peak and a sturdy strap and buckle, stays on great in 30 knts, the hats are marketed for surfing, best one ive had so far, worth checking out the website
  3. A boat builder I know ,told me to use 5200 to stick boot on, 6 years later still looking like the day I did it, I used some plywood pieces and props to hold it in position till it went off, don't go with ADOS contact cement
  4. Berth rental has just had a price increase at HMB,
  5. the soft shackle is very simple, undo shackle and put through the reef ring, do it up and leave it for when reqd, its a good loop to assist pulling sail down as well, , i think i used the marlow 8mm , its nice to handle and very strong, with a good slippery feel, no chafe seen as yet, i also used one for top main sheet block onto s/s loop on the boom, certainly nicer than s/s shackle to s/s, gybes are a lot quieter and no creaking when boom swings at anchor
  6. same issue myself, went to Fosters and procured a marlow soft shackles $32 , I leave it in place ready to go, works a treat, they come in pairs so use the other for 2nd reef
  7. white pointer had a pretty good start in baltic 3, up with the 40 footers at browns and a great run down to rocky bay with 10 knts seen on the log, around the mark and over pressed with the furler for a bit until eased sheets up to haystack, got in a bit of a soft spot coming into haystack which allowed a 1020 to close up on us, around the mark and over pressed again, but starting to get it together when the clew pulled off the headsail with a good bang, no spare sail onboard so boat speed with main only wasnt to good , on with the motor and all speed to izzy bay and a beer or 3, great time w

i recall in a previous boat that had an electrosan treatment unit installed that the manufacturer recommended using Muriatic acid at about 10% mix, soaked for an hour then flushed out, seemed to do the job, never had any toilet blockage issues

  14. Hey guys, I need a purple class flag, for Baltic 3, can I purchase one somewhere or do I make one??
  15. bloody house was close to dragging anchor out west at Waiuku
  16. great spot to vist, with good cafes and grocery shops if your out for a bit, tho we always seem to go back to Te Kouma for overnight anchorage, only bad point is having to anchor out so far as we have a small dink so we don't bother if its windy.
