Give Tony Smith a call if you haven't already

Its an awesome product: primer, undercoat, vapour barrier, topcoat, non skid all in one and its easy to retouch. Add clear for a gloss/uv resistant finish and you're good to go. LPU's are better for exterior longevity appearance and gloss but for all general use its hard to beat.

The tech in epoxies is in the hardener, I'm pretty sure that the bulk components (resins) come from a few major suppliers and are repackaged to suit.
-
Resin and hardener....what are you, a chemistry phd? The boating public struggles with "part A and part B"
-
Which boating press are you talking about? The new trailer hardtop for 200k press, the new Riviera 70 so affordable press, the new budget harbour racer for 600k press or the look at my 2 bedroom apartment with a mast on top press? As far as I can tell the last article about painting boats DIY in the "press" was last century

Re Epoxy; we are too small for many players to enter the retail market is the short answer, plus its a very conservative industry. The unknown product may be better but until you get a bit of feedback you are probably going to stick with the known company. There's more than one supplier for industry, when you are using epoxy by the drum there's a lot more choice. NZ Fibreglass out in Morrin Rd will sell you epoxy btw

basically yes, they often use bungees to stop the annoying rattle from rigging screws flopping about

Have I got it right that Mr Aitkin is doing it 2 handed? Good news for all those members keen on shorthanded sailing.

plus they are logged, 30 hours or something and time for a new one

Well he did flick the hacienda for 19 mil so he's probably not short of a bob or two

You would need to be parked on the transit to observe it accurately otherwise its a guess, I believe most competitors are sporting and would return if they were aware. On the line at the gun is surprisingly difficult mid line, usually there is a bit of sag. Maybe only 3 boats were over, but ultimately the decision for a recall lies with the race officer as competitors simply cant tell for sure when its very close. In doubtful situations "are we over" is usually followed by very quick decision based on input from your crew, competitors sharing their feelings and finally by was there a gun?

The article seemed rational but I think one point he misses is that this is about team New Zealand's relationship to the country and its supporters. It seemed more a Dalton hagiography, and without taking away from his truly remarkable achievements the cup is all about the tail wagging the dog. The tail in this case is the money. He mentions that it's wonderful to have it moved to beautiful Barcelona because the cup is also a trade fair where we can sell our wares, sort of like a upmarket car boot sale. I can't see it benefitting more than a select few in tiny specialist industries. That

This launch operator was in full wave making mode when nek minit the harbour master gave him a 10 minute telling off!

Its legendary, heard about them but never been there

How did your polishing go today?
-
No 5 never "self polished" for me, useless for racing because you cant wipe it without massive amounts coming off, and it doesn't hold up that well in the tidal parts of the harbour. It's OK but Jotun seaforce 90 was/is better. Some boats have had 3 full seasons and only repainting after 4 years. Not sure if its still available.

it's still a 10 million dollar fishery there for the taking. Everyone knows where it is so just steam on out and mow the lawns, come back to port and collect the $$ or is it harder than that?
-
No it was taken on Monday with the gate in for class rules

S34 Champs; From the RNZYS facebook page It doesn't get any better than late summer racing on Auckland Harbour

Too much gear in the aft locker?

Five people rescued so far in large-scale operation off North Cape
Psyche replied to eruptn's topic in MarineTalk
A mate is has done a lot of commercial fishing, he said the water of North Cape can be the nastiest stretch around the NZ coast which is saying something. -
I always thought that big brands were one company but its a fast food franchise out there!

All the 22 bikes have been built (as in the frame) for the new Michelin rear introduced on 2020 which has a lot more grip but with track temps going to 70c plus they used the older carcass which runs cooler but it caused chaos as some bikes could not adapt. Honda being one of them. In the end it was a wet race so it didnt matter.
