    Teak

If the caulking compound is still reasonably sound ie not rock hard and still attached just leave it and repair the sections that need replacing. Take a sharp small hand plane and run it over the ridged compound to flatten it off also a new Tajima styled knife blade laid flat will do the job. Avoid sanding the teak as that is just a waste of teak. Fien do a 4mm and 5mm caulking removal blade not cheap and there is the reef hook but in reality a sharp knife to the rebated sides and a screwdriver work equally as well. Remember to degrease the cleaned out and sanded seams with MEK or similar
  2. While you are at it if going stainless have the exposed portion electropolished.
  3. Very cool BNG. Bit of a drift but one of my favourite boat and sun paintings. The guy is a bit of twit but it really shows the painting well.
  4. No and nor should the government shoulder the costs and compensate those who buy in known risk prone areas. I wonder if the driver in the NY Times piece is economic and it is cheaper to build in those areas that are exposed to hurricanes. Do those residents carry home insurances and if so what sort of premiums do they pay compared to other less at risk areas. 9 million new residents over 16 years given the land area concerned is not that large in growth terms.

Was fluffing around the other day and found this in my collection which I posted on SA sunsets.
  6. Panuku are as cunning as a pack of ship yard rats. They will take this interval in their back door privatisation of public assets to regroup and emerge as slippery as ever. No point sitting on your tuffets and having a moan folks take the time to lift a finger or two in effort and fire off a email or call to your local councillor , board member and MP. Rattle their cages and if you bang the drum loud and hard enough you will find that they are gettable as we did with Westhaven. Its called the democratic process.
  7. Crikey the poor girl is going to get very wet in that outfit.
  8. Just gobble up your cockpit and disconnect you from the feel.
  9. Hah that made me larf Talk about Yes Minister. In 2004 when the deal was done to secure Westhaven back into perpetual public ownership we pushed for a over arching local body entity to deliver a strategy for the whole of the waterfront . Crikey those council fullas are still trying to differentiate between strategic and strategy. Now that’s what I pay my rates for.
  10. Wheels should be illegal on yachts under 40ft.
  11. Serious loot look about that monster, Mr&Mrs Hart must like the Russian oligarch look. Think this one is for Michael Hill and a bit more modest.
  12. Crikey BP sorry for the inconvenience. Maybe Graham is going to use it to run contraband like single use plastic shopping bags.
  13. "As a FYI, a couple of the very same people who pestered Helen to put the covenant over Westhaven in the first place have been the battlers in the current shite fight. Good on them for being so tenacious". There should be a national or regional award/title or maybe free marina berths and diesel or rum for a year bestowed on those who fight the good fight and keep these bastards honest with no recognition or reward to themselves. A few names spring to mind and I wont name them here but the public of this city owe them a huge debt of gratitude for their tireless and selfless efforts over ma
  14. Crikey how big a boat do you need. Boats must be like penises where size does matter for the wealthy well I am poor and have a small one. What ever happened to the ugly critter that he got towed from Chile.
  15. Crikey IT, that diesel has really been putting you through the wringer. Easy for me to be philosophical but I have tackled the whole heart lung transplant experience on our princess and although a lot wiser and poorer I can in all honesty say "the storm will pass and the sun will shine". Try starting a Givealittle page
  16. What happens to the engine temperature and expansion bottle level if you run it under load without the thermostat installed.

  18. Although his initial catastrophic gear failure was self steering I wonder if he regrets changing out the tiller.

  21. Impossible to regroup on your own. ACT is the right name for that twit. Epsom has got to be some sort of political intelligence twilight zone.
  22. I have long thought that those Japanese whalers are not to bright for seamen. Just go down to the beach. You could well be be fortunate enough to encounter a decent quantity of the born dead variety of the species which are easily accessed far less messy no pesky protesters and ready for immediate research.
  23. This one looks all good in a flat sea but what happens when it gets a bit ruffer. Not cheap actually moonbeams.
  24. Some mention of her being influenced by the Alden Malibar Junior. Bet those planks are all full length too. Pretty girl with a great arse. When I was a young fella everything was coloured like the biscuit tin.
