  1. Hold the cup anywhere they like ,lake Taupo Sydney Rome anywhere but here, I have absolutely no interest in the cup,Maori will do a protest thing and ruin it, How many yachting and non yachting public really care about it?? I only got interested in last couple of races along with a lot of other people I know, its not matching of yesteryear which is what we want to see, luffing matches etc
  2. If you have a high enough elbow in the exhaust water shouldnt be able to back flow,we had a valve on the outlet for the just incase scenario. Trick was to remember to open it before starting.
  3. I had a mps on a 26ft and worked for me,good reaching particular when to shy for the kite, and while cruising main stayed down and sailed mainly on the mps, could even pole it like a kite but was a bit ugly.easy to single handed,a sock would of been nice.
  4. The old man changed out the 100hp ford non turbo for a 180? Turbo.nothing but trouble.
  5. Bp. Friends in oz with trailer boats reckon the ramps have improved by paying a fee
  6. May not of change seamanship or lack but launching ramps etc have improved from registration. You race a yacht needs to be registered so whats the problem?? behave and there is no issue.
  7. How else do you lodge a complaint?? Trailer boats are easy, must display trailer rego?? only needs to be a one off fee until change of ownership,we have it too easy in NZ. with our increasing boating population it must come in or do we wait until we have a few deaths?bit like a pedestrian crossing not outside my place we dont need it,next minute 3 deaths Oh there should be a crossing.
  8. For years we scrubbed and painted between tides, cannot sand(cough cough) suppose to remove light slime only, mussel etc are suppose to be disposed of in to a bin,WHY?the damn things come from the sea, they are a filter and each mussel filters 20lts ph or there about.
  9. Hence the reason I am all for registration,so you can nail the Pr2cks, By having a number it will confirm the vessel you are complaining about,at the moment how do you complain about 16ft white sea nymph rakino??how many fit that description?yes suppose to have a name of 90mm but whats the point with no registration? Fair chance if it was a yacht creating havoc even though current owner not listed with ynz still a god chance of tracking them in a marina or mooring as most have a name and sail number on the hull.
  10. From the green pile by krisis to the red pile by ballistic it is open speed at point England.but still must observe the 5knt rule passing 50m of another vessel and 200m from shore
  11. What brand of stove?? Had an issue with the oven in the plastimo stove,no gas getting to burner but what i found was,the steel pipe had rusted through, first thought ali, replaced with copper and bingo all good.
  12. 6 cylinder 4 cylinder why dont they build 3 or 5 cylinders? take the diahatsu car smooth running being 3 pistons so I can see no problem with a 5 ?what I can gather the 3 works well because of balance.
  13. well its been found, owned by a Swedish couple and its on the hard in Whangarei apparently. Thanks All.
  14. on another site a member is asking if anyone knows of a yacht in Auckland or any part of NZ could 'Whizzbang" http://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/anyone-know-a-yacht-called-whizbang_topic127253.html Thanks
  15. A couple of us have often wondered about the trans atlantic,I use to own an old spencer box 30,sabre,we could hold our own running reaching and seeing how the t/a is down wind,we often thought new foil designs and you might have a winner
  16. Probably a silly question, but are there canal boats with petrol engines??why I am asking is it seems petrol is quite happy idling over or running at reduced revs compared to diesel, most small diesils need to run at 3/4 throttle so probably answering my own question now,6 cylinder diesils may not wear as much as 4?
  17. You do not want or need more farms, they are the most pollutant thing around. Try google Tasmania salmon farms, they want to increase but are under huge public pressure to close up and go away. They deprive the ocean of oxygen. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-09-17/okehampton-bay-fish-farm-protest-takes-to-the-water/8954512 I am not greenie ,I know we need employment but at what cost to the environment presides I hate salmon
  18. Kauri die back I have put down to spraying of 1080,Waitakere/Hunua has die back yet where were in January with lots of Kauri around no die back and never had a 1080 drop. right back to fan worm
  19. So I gather you drive in.they pump there chemical in,fan worm dies?? what next, they open the gate and all the chemical etc goes in to the marina ??
  20. maybe a higher temperature oil
  21. A few years ago now but was proposed was a culvert from Herne bay under the road and to come out where the ramp was.to help flush and stop the silting.
  22. harrytom

    Dermatitis?

Too late now but next time, disposable overalls, gloves taped at cuff.Or rub a barrier cream on first. Found cold shower best. Not a doctor either
  23. "Wheels" funny you mention lawn mower oil, thats what I used when I had none, motor went fine.
  24. my honda 2hp 4 stroke 250ml of 10/30 normal car oil,how can the internals corrode unless the salt water gets in,Which it shouldnt, only the outside can corrode, the only internal which can corrode is the pump housing, waterways etc,oil does not protect those parts, hondas are air cooled so no saltwater internally anyway.
