Checked out hyde website last night, they have stock sizes for"peterson"1/4 ton, seeing how the cav 26 is "peterson"1/4 tempted to buy direct but instinct tells me to go sail maker or could be a expensive mistake, but buying a kite seems to be the way to go stock sizes.$800 us?free shipping.

I have a furler and would not do with out for cruising, the sail has foam it is not quite a no2 has foam in luff and can furl to about 1/2 before it looses shape,so nice to be in the cockpit to reduce sail rather bounce around changing sails. As my manisail reef system is hopeless unless you reef before weighing anchor. I have found that with furlers I need to put more backstay on.

Teflon sheets, I used f2 glue and still holding air 2yrs on

around here somewhere is a plastic cover book with the models and marks in it.From early 70s I am thinking.

Ok she who holds the finances has approved me to by a new main and no2, Am I best to go directly to far east/hyde or go through a sailmaker here who can measure and send of sizes? What are guarantees like? just want cruising sails or cruiser/racer was thinking of going through B&G out in Botany current sails 35+ old, cav26 sail mainly using furler no2.have a storm jib still in bag(new)

I.T,had a look at my keel bolts the other day after bouncing on a rock(should of known better) mine are bolt through floors 1 at front floor 2 in next 2 in next aft 1 6 bolts in total all 1/2in 12mm on cav 26ft so feel there is no problem there. Regardless of construction should be able to take a fair knock or 2 without major damage.. on a side note do beney sail to windward?see a hell of a lot motoring

same wheels I brought, just had to calibrate navman with gps, checked with another boat and works fine, next 1 wreck will be looking at replacing whole unit

Thanks "Willow" basically no back bone to take stress? interesting link, seems the keel arrangement is not structurally tied in to hull,as most yachts the keel supports are internally fitted so keel hangs off supports and using hull for support as well. So the yachts have like a module/plug fitted to hull with keel and relying on glue, So picking we may see more of the benes going cheap in nz?

Ok please correct me here, maybe totally wrong. The vessel has suffered delamination?? Why is it being sold by an insurance company rather than the builder? can you insure a vessel against delamination? or has the vessel hit a hard object which has caused the issue?then the later being the case I could see insurance company involved in selling but if its straight manufacture fault then should it not be between owner/builder.

put it in the water and will soon know if it leaks or not. nah when looking at planks and you see cracks(opening up)depends on corking ,it can close back up again, consult a wooden boat builder or get them to take a look. corking is not a job i would take on,too much cork forced in can crack planks too little it will leak
-
depends what the construction is,carvel(planked)may leak till it takes up depending on corking, diagonal not likely to leak, plywood should not leak. what type of boat??

Do you have to have floor boards for cat2?if you removed them then what?in a shallow bilge yacht like say a D28 you can store nothing under the floor so whats the point?
-
It cannot go ahead due to the oyster farms in the harbour,By dredging they will unsettle the heavy metalsasnic etc from the gold processing days.Besides it will ruin the quiet settlement as marina holders will insist on a major upgrade of the Thames/Coromandel Rd.

Do you have trouble getting in reverse?off topic sorry, but mine stalls unless I go in quick for max revs.then can ease off

Wondering why the High Tides are really high just lately?
harrytom replied to wheels's topic in MarineTalk
hard to measure when you think about it.Its high ride in Auckland at 12.00 noon so low tide manukau high tide sydney low tide fiji etc so how do measure it??when its half tide right around the world?wind has an effect so does full moon etc.
