    SailGP

The kph wind annoys me most -apparently those who think wind and speed on water is measured in kph also dont have the attention span to watch a full yacht race or even a shortened one of four legs...... A big shame those controlling the stats on who is first or third and which boat we are on are not up with sailing back at the famous Ealing studios in the UK.
  3. Of course without over thinking it you can tie your tea towel at arm high above you -after doing the dishes, havent seen it fail yet!
  4. There is one on the hard at Devonport, though measuring another may be a red herring unless she has the exact same propulsion set up, I know of at least five variants fitted from new.
  5. Excellent pics FLC you have been there and done that.
  6. Thats what I figure Chariot -not many new rocks growing where I cruise -however I have experienced silting of harbours -like sliding into Port Charles a few years back reading Darcys description wondered why people on the beach waving till we gently slowed to a halt, nothing for it lunch and a beer left sails as they were (it was a rising tide) then sailed out to the Mercs.
  7. Started with Navionics on B & G high end gear 30 years ago and still prefer it -and it looks the same on iphone and pad so thats what I will stick with, though I am senior to many of you so still carry full charts Akkers book and Pickmere for my coast crawling -sometimes fun to see all the changes.
  8. Lets hope its a few weeks away, though I have held off entering today
  9. Yes his Z V12 was something else...
  10. An H28 or Cav 32 wont go too far wrong unless the engine is had it.
  11. Exactly why I said the same form to YNZ needs to be sent to those that you are not paying the fee to, so that they can collect them and forward to YNZ with their "return". Of course most apathetic kiwis wont bother and this is what the cynical Mr Abercrombie is counting on to maintain his empire.
  12. Spoken to YNZ and they say that until the clubs send in all the members names, they cant enact the refund system that they have promised, so essentially sitting on their hands, hoping not too many of us notice that they are going against the AGM vote and keeping the empire and Olympic funding bubbling along. No other sport would be so Brazen in robbing its participants for the benefit of the few. I suggest that we nominate the club that we pay the levy with then notify them and deduct from the others with the same note to be forwarded to YNZ.
  13. Only a couple of spots left, this could be a great sail-two handed or fully crewed.
  14. Just off the end of Whangaparaoa maybe near a pair of bouys 😉 Or is it BP hiding his stash in a pencil case under the binnacle?
  15. I know of a few who have been told that they have to have it, followed by a ginormous bill for running a couple of lines on boats from the late eighties that actually did not have issues prior and now have more joints/connections . wtf
  16. Well those keen fellas on the mighty Deep Purple showed how to go out of the start powered up and away , getting more miles for their entry fee than most gybing at pace out of the harbour, we had a good view from the front of the adjacent line. When we finally caught them up towards Shearer Rock I thought I would go close and hand them some hot pizza but decided conditions a bit boisterous and didnt want to be accused of outside assistance. Feeling quite second hand today -it was a bit bouncy for gentlemen sailors. A few notables: Booboo and Damon as usual making the best of their equipme
  17. A little worrying that it is still no wind here in North Harbour -does that mean it has slowed down and we will get a harder go tomorrow?
  18. Gosh I thought mine was wooden, so the answer is to not support the clubs by joining and go everywhere as a visitor from your primary club. This will certainly have even more clever ones joining the short reporting of membership numbers, and other outlying clubs electing to go alone without YNZ .
  19. Though we are being charged as individuals, and I have a yachting NZ member card with list of benefits on the back, and the clubs are levied based on the number of members they admit to having....I know some have adjusted their numbers for this purpose.
  20. I am a member of far too many yacht clubs, and am getting more and more upset at Yachting NZ charging me to belong through every one of them, this can not be allowed to continue -surely I can nominate a club pay the membership and quote this number allowing me to not pay through all the others . In short this is the greatest rort of this countries sailors, I am aware someone from Tauranga brought this up at the AGM circa five years ago, and the meeting sort of agreed however nothing seems to have been done. Come on David man up and tell us this will stop.
  21. James is right on these late model Yanmars with no anodes an occasional flush of the salt side with fresh is a sensible move.
  22. Matbe the owner of Blakies old boat was just careening, and it didnt blow ashore at St Heliers
  23. Your old boat is a bargain for someone Elly
