  1. Yes nothing has changed QS and engineer reports from years ago pointed out the substantial issues with this thing, I was told not in my lifetime, then they got quotes for a Carbon one from a boatbuilder to lighten it but still no go.
  2. Bad Kitty is largely correct, there is however one point that the mass media have overlooked and Dalton plays down -that the holders of the cup are RNZYS . So asking for NZ taxpayers money so that you dont take it to Arabia or Texas et al always has had a hollow ring to it to me. A one off pageant promoters dream race around the IOW sounds a good way to keep the interest up and give the sponsors some value. Ps the bottle of Mumm swapped for two sandwiches with the Jetski girl sure tasted nice.
  3. Romanys idea is whats required for the cruising/passage division of the 'Auckland Regatta" like they used to do before the Admirals Cup and the Whitbread -great fun.
  4. A little bit naughty as Bold werent going to be here in time anyway, RNZ fell for the boats line totally, they could easily have come with a few less crew.

    Overload

Went to Northern Europe after being for sale here for years -Greg sold it for them.
  6. Lest you characters are led astray or confused as same may be from what ive heard recently , the nett result of the current changes at westhaven are 38 less berths from the old berths and piles mix. Dont worry these figures came from Panuku at a meeting where I was present. The new berths are for 50' and up craft and multihulls, as these owners are happy to pay whatever and cant row and require to be plugged in. In many ways it is the same as a fisherman upsizing, better return for less fish.
  7. Hmmm a Mayday is not a Pan Pan and you are either sinking or not, sounds like two Numpties go out on a boat , and the Maritime boys are not allowed to say that.
  8. Supply and (current) demand old boy.
  9. "Interesting" race that one, anyone else notice... Early in the week Prada state that Ineos will definitely win one Prada race with small headsail in a breeze that is not freshening Prada are much faster on the wind And best of all look at Mr Spittal and MrBrunis reaction after the loss, have you ever and I mean ever seen Jimmy so happy after being beaten? Its just not in his DNA.....
  10. Best result I have had with old Deep cycles was using a Ctek charger on recon function worked with half of them -which was a bonus as I had been given them.
  11. Perhaps Tina needs a lesson in history and humility, without Mr Prada there would be no AC here and no ACE for her to draw salary from........I bet the Herald dont print that!
  12. We are asked to keep an eye out for the yacht ? No name or description though and the Wellington team unsure between Ponui and Pauanui .
  13. Good, Tina Symmans is quite rude with her comments and clearly does not understand a yachting contest already underway, should she continue as spokesperson for ACE? If we had it her way the whole show would be open to ridicule from the yachting world even more so. on again off again courses, changing the length of courses and the number of laps on the day . Results conjured up by yachts purposely starting late.....
  14. The only issue appears to be the crowd at the viaduct, everything else can carry on, the organisers had a plan in place prior for racing under level 3. In this case Luna Rossa are dead right close Viaduct nonsense and get on with the yachting all other Auckland sailing is back on, and we can go out and spectate on our boats or at home or at clubs in our bubble. What is Grant /ACE up to I wonder- history will point out a few facts about this "series" that even TV has glossed over.
  15. Forgot the best bit, waterblast the hell out of it at recoat time and you are good to recoat, sanding antifoul is for drongos and should have been left in the 70's .
  16. Oh that is strange, I am talking Tamaki river, Milford Creek and Westhaven I am getting three years at each currently -Yes the boats are raced so I am fussy -but dont scrub it wipe it . 25' light displacement keeler 4L, 10M heavier disp keeler 7 L Any less and you will fail, I have no barnacles and only slime to wipe.
  17. Not a Gori, could be an earlier Briski , too small for you Booboo

  23. SD60's and the current Volvo saildrives are made by Selva for ZF, the Yanmar SD60 has a few mods that the early Volvos dont have, it is very crucial how you set up the cable to give equal (and full ) throw when selecting forward or reverse. Then these multiplate clutch drives should give less issues -note they use normal 15-40 unlike the SD20/25 . The SD40 and 50 have not been sold for 10 years now -but are easy the dress the cones when needed. PRM make a good small V drive that may fit the 3JH Yanmar -the others have gone away from this market.
