  1. Oh dear..... https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/300282459/excharity-boss-jailed-for-five-years-for-raping-girlfriend
  2. Yep, thats significant. One thing I don't understand (and it's not a change) is calling for water can only be done on the wind. If you are running you have no rights if being pushed into the shore. The americas cup amended that to both upwind and down. I've had this twice this year where we were pushed unto the beach (actually ran aground both times) It's easier to stop/slow down to give yourself room to tack when the wind than it is to slow down on a run.
  3. Or the iPhone app "Pocket" which lets you save and read Herald (and others) articles
  4. Channel island would have to be close Castle island off hahei and cape Brett's piercy island as well beehive but that looks like an island
  5. Does a roll of stickyback qualify?
  6. And none of those fire extinguisher things a bucket of sand, painted red, marked FIRE for the fighting of...
  7. I agree, you're out of Cat3 at the moment A lot of boats including most multihulls would not be able to use a 50% reef in anger.
  8. Well we had a great regatta until Sunday morning when a luff under genny put the rudders gudgeons in a state that saw us sit out the last 2 races. Still managed 3rd on line overall even with the 88's merged into C Division. Great winds and the 3 divisions that managed fleets had exciting racing. And a huge party Saturday night with the cup on show and guys from TeamNZ making up half the band.
  9. Yep, it's a great idea done badly.
  10. INVESTIGATION: Is it possible to commute from Hamilton to Auckland using the new $92m Te Huia train service? 4:30am: You wake up to your blaring alarm in the suburbs of Hamilton. Your day is already off to a bad start. 5:30am: Your commute begins. You drive to the Frankton train station. 5:46am: You board the train in the nick of time. The carriage is empty. Thanks to a massive taxpayer subsidy, your fare is only $17. 7:25am: You arrive in Papakura, after 98 minutes on the train. That’s more than enough time to watch the 1996 Ewan McGregor classic Trainspotting. But your co
  11. Maybe but adding a second crossing that uses spaghetti junction and northern motorway to Albany isn't going to work either. The sou-western should have carried on down rosscomon, across weymouth, Pukekohe, tuakau, coming out at pokeno The eastern ring road should go across orakie, glen Innes, botany, alfriston, back of papkura, coming in at Ramarama. If another bridge using the same approaches as the existing bridge is all they can do then they should double stack the motorways like they do in the USA and England Sadly none of this will ever happen. I'll be selling a c
  12. Vision Straight out from the waterview tunnel, under/over the harbour, beachhaven, slotting back in near Oteha Valley Road And a train tunnel from Britomart to the northern busway
  13. You could win a B&G chart plotter here - and one for your club https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/bg
  14. We have bunks, headroom, lifelines, more ballast, shorter rig, designed to comply with trailer yacht rules, a PHRF, no trapezes, 6hp outboard, cat4 safety gear We could race them at a pinch. Our elapsed time around the same track at bay week would have seen us at 9th out of 11 sport boats
  15. Screw it, we're coming, looks a great forecast
  16. But it's a shovel ready project. Jacinda said so and she never lies I laughed at the part about hanging it off the concrete pillars that support the whole bridge. Anyone that has done the bridge walk knows that the bridge is steel from just above the water. The concrete pillars do nothing
  17. Well skypath is history. After all these years they found out they can't build it Skypath grounded: Auckland Harbour Bridge may never get a cycleway by Simon Wilson, nzherald.co.nz The plan to build a cycling and walking path over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, popularly known as Skypath, has run into "significant and complex engineering issues". The Herald understands the current design will be scrapped. Other options are being considered but these are likely to involve substantial delays.
  18. Cat 3 changed from 3 years to 2 years about 10 years ago. Cat 2 was 2 years in the previous safety regs but how long before that I don't know.

  20. Yeah put it up for grabs at the Isle of Wight with the proviso that if the UK wins they still have to defend it in auckland in 2004. unlikly ineos would beat nz given their form in the prada cup final but if they did then they would have no serious racing till the americas cup final whereas TNZ would run through the challenger series in their home town. They might lose that but it would sure attract attention I think it would work
  21. Yep I had a preview a few weeks back and pointed out a typo that appears to have been fixed the 50% reef is gone nav lights must now be wired into the central electrical system my main concern is that the NZTYA still controls trailer yacht regulations and nothing there has changed. Neither has there been consistency created between trailer yachts and keelboats here are the changes Summary of changes to Safety Regulations for 2021 - 2024 This is an extensive summary of the changes to be made to the 2021-24 Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations of Sailing (SRS) Wh
