Wondered about that - it is slightly bent. Guess the thing to do would be to find someone with a similar radio. ICOM want $115 just to look at it. May as well buy a new one. Any recommendations for radios ?

I have a ICOM VHF Handheld IC-M33 which is not receiving. It appears to be working ok part from that ie it is transmitting ok. Any ideas ?

Absolutely - getting in the car is way more risky - the discomfort and the very long time talking to yourself would put me off.

Maybe he figures that boat is so slow it will be summer by the time he gets there

Went to a talk he gave about his trip to Auckland island and Aus. He is definitely a character and tells a good story. I think said he lives on tuna and onion sandwiches or something like that. His wife is Karyn Hay who is on Radio NZ 10-11pm.

Coming up 3 years on the Altex 5. secret is put plenty on and go easy on the cleaning. -
Stayed there a couple of times but weather has to be really settled, south side Burgess and also Nth of Atihau and I think maybe also west side Burgess. Walk up to light house from wharf pretty cool. Ray Walters the last light keeper built a 28ft launch up by the light from Kauri ex one of the houses intending to send it down the railway (very steep) but in the end an Iroquois lifted it off ! As someone mentioned watch out for Simpson rock on your way there.

Pretty sure all the cavaliers had monel keel bolts. As has our Lidgard 12.6 (I cut a piece off the top and had it tested).

Again off topic but i would be interested in any comments on the three head sail configuration the boats are using

KM is spot on - it so easy to get complacent. But don't get in a car if you are really worried about risk. Off topic I know but the drone footage has been amazing. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the jockey poles - they are a long way aft ?
