SthnJeff 14
Last I read he was going to Auckland from Coromandel, or to the Barrier, or Wellington, or Waiheke, Or Napier
wheels 543
I hope it's not him.Last time he was on here, I think he was Coromandle and wanting to get to Auckland. But then we have always had a confusing array of places from him.Luna rings a Bell though. Not sure why. Anyone with time want to look at his past posts and see if he mentioned his boats name? MarkMT 68
6.7 meters sounds pretty close to a Variant though he did claim at one point that he'd sold that. http://crew.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic/13305-h28-boats-looking-at-buying-one/
Beccara 25
Saying he's been found now
waikiore 374
Probably lucky that he was on a Variant, sound little boats
DrWatson 357
Reporting's a bit vague, but was he actually lost? Seems like a few people on shore freaked out. Doesn't seem like he gave a concrete plan and those who knew him were concerned. Dunno if that's good or bad...

ScottiE 174
Gotta love the herald reporting. Was missing since Friday even though we was spotted anchored on Monday. Almost a Schrödinger's Cat situation! Are you missing if someone else doesn't know where you are?!?????????????
erice 731
does come across a bit big brother imagine going for a tramping trip camping in a gorge helicopters being sent in after you, hovering above your campsite then rangers walking in to give you a sat phone and very firm instructions to call your mother!
Dtwo 157
Usual 20 year old in 2016, believing that you can just phone anywhere at anytime. The cell phone coverage up that coast and around East Cape is total shite.
Berend de Boer 2
He has no comms, and the entire force of the state is mobilised. We may not know everything, but this seems a severe overreaction. What do people think, is this the new normal?
Kevin McCready 83
Whoa there. Settle down. His friends were worried about him and did the right thing. The rescue people also did the right thing. Lesson learned. Seems the only people doing the wrong thing are the media who got it wrong.
Island Time 1,184
Personally I think the responsibility lies with the sailor. No voyage plan, no comms, no obvious sign of distress should result in no search. I know this is not the PC view, and that in the current environment the authorities did the right thing. I just don't agree with it. Personal responsibility is something sadly lacking in many....
