southernman 73
Wife went down to yacht today at Bayswater to check lines, found our Weber BBQ had gone for a walk overboard and is at the bottom of marina. I'm out of town at the moment does anyone know a diver who we could pay to go fetch it or is the general opinion be that it's toast? It has probably been on the bottom for a few days. Cheers
Clipper 346
How do you know its overboard and not been nicked?
southernman 73
Haha good question, the fact that the mount has broken in half would indicate it's at the bottom and an old sausage that somehow got left on it is hanging off the stern
khayyam 77
hm. dunno. thieves in a hurry might well leave just such a trail.
waikiore 409
Happy teeth might enjoy that sausage - bit of variety from Orakei Parore
southernman 73
Haha I'm back at the boat now and trying the fishing rod with a big hook to see if I can get it. I'm not game to get in the water today given the amount of sh1t on the surface!!
BMW56 12
How deep is the water where you are? Perhaps one of those 3m long extendable boat hooks at low tide?
Clipper 346
Whats on the surface?
GregW 28
Been lots of rain - probably bits of everything flushed down the bogs from St Marys bay and surrounds....

Marshy 30
Old Cockpit speakers are a good source of big magnets
Clipper 346
Thats an obvious, but great idea. Wish i hadnt thrown my okd ones out
Marshy 30
Yeah had to put new cockpit speakers in the 88 after my wife dropped her car keys in the marina, easiest quickest magnet i could think of was a cockpit speaker - they are water resistant not water proof fyi - made them old pretty quick haha

hb1849 12
yeah but I was thinking you might snag it on the barbe Call me a dumb arse butI didn't know s/s was non magnetic. U learn something every day.. Not all SS is non-magnetic. Ferritic SS is magnetic. However, common 304 and 316 are austenitic, and not magnetic.
wheels 543
What about dragging a small grapple anchor on a line. You might catch on some part of it.
erice 732
isn't the stainless that is weakly magnetic also more likely to corrode?
southernman 73
Good idea wheels I'll try that at low tide. Might be a BBQ on trade me
