ex Elly 258
Looks like it's going to be a close battle.

That’s because the boats are even but have different traits. LRPP are more manoevreable ETNZ have slight straight line speed. When it gets close it will be interesting. Match racing is like that. a worse outcome is that one is clearly superior to the other and that becomes a procession. So I’m grateful that there is some tension, if only at the starts. Deep Purple 530
I agree, it's like nascar racing on the short circuit. Nowhere near enough room to really perform
Romany 162
They should chuck a lap of an adjacent island in - sort of like the joker thing on rally cross on tele on Sundays. Or make them send on crew member ashore to have a pie and 2 pints, sprint back down the beach, restart.. Bring back the fun. 1
Black Panther 1,765
A capsize race like we did in kid's dinghy races!
Romany 162
Or have two race days where both teams have to wear fancy dress, theme chosen by a 3 year old from a school in each of the 2 competitors 'home' country, with additional points awarded for imaginative use of the theme
waikiore 477
Romanys idea is whats required for the cruising/passage division of the 'Auckland Regatta" like they used to do before the Admirals Cup and the Whitbread -great fun.
Romany 162
Is it going to suck or blow today. My location ( northbound on the bridge) looks pretty sucky.
ex Elly 258
Currently 7 knots on course E. TNZ is foiling. LR have a techinical issue, cannot foil, people on board trying to fix the boat. Wonder if they will call for a 15 minute delay?
Addem 121
Counting down...
harrytom 697
TNZ suppose to have a speed advantage?? Wonder when they will use it?? Need to go back on how to start. We are like the poms fast downhill and that's it.
aardvarkash10 1,103
27km plus change vs 25.5km plus change. If you have to sail 6% further, you'd better be 7% faster. TNZ ain't 7% faster
Addem 121
2:1 to LRPP. looks like the naysayers will get their wish. I wonder if the TAB will give me my money back if I ask nicely?
harrytom 697
so port has advantage and seems to win?? so should go to race 13 for tnz to win.Theory being.race 1 P race 2 S race 3 S race 4 P carry on the sequence p,s,s,p,p,s,s,p,p,
Addem 121
It doesn’t make sense that once a boat starts to gaP off they extend and extend. But they are supposedly similar in speed. So you’d expect the gaps to remain similar. we have extended 75m each leg. Is that a speed advantage we couldnt use in the first race because we had to do some many manoevres? aardvarkash10 1,103
TNZ was a completely different boat. Pointed higher, better boat speed, and so better VMG. No errors, better overall handling than the first race. Still a pretty boring procession. Watch the start and the first 3 minutes, watch the last 3 minutes, and you pretty much have seen everything worth watching.
Zozza 351
Is it because the course should be out further in the Gulf to provide more chance of windshifts, but they want the course close in for the "benefit" of the spectator fleet? If the latter, utterly ridiculous, because at the moment its a bit like cricket in that if you win the toss you win the match, and if you win the start in this AC you win the match race.
