CarpeDiem 510
Pier 21 is the emptiest I have ever seen it. I understand from others that Boatright has moved on, or perhaps even closed down I know that the block was for sale. Are they ramping down for closure? Massive loss for Auckland boaties if it's turned into apartment blocks.
Y88 5241 25
Yes Boat Right has closed down, Gloss Boats has moved most its operation out to Tamaki Marine Park.
Terry B 73
Pier 21 is for sale but as a marine business (as I understand from several articles I've read) - see link below: https://www.cbre.co.nz/about/media-center/large-central-city-waterfront-property-on-the-market Anybody know anything different? Tamaki Marine Park is useless for yachts unless you're happy to remove your mast before going under the bridge to get there.............
ex Elly 221
And at Orams they have redeveloped the old hardstand area, so much less room for small yachts in the area sheltered by the buildings.
waikiore 444
No problem at Orams for me this year -they didnt require the 600 ton for me 🤣
Bradz 18
We had a booking coming out 25 July. Had a phone call from the office today cancelling our booking, property has been sold Pier 21 are no more. I think the date may have been from 22 July, can't remember that part of the conversation. Ex Machina 384
Ah feck it’s our favourite marina for staying when we come down for racing in dorkland

CarpeDiem 510
Multi story apartments to help with the housing crisis? So what travel lift options does that leave for yachties in Auckland now? Gulf Harbour Marina Hobsonville Marina Orams (does Orams allow owners to work on their boats?) Does Pine Harbour or Bucklands have travel lifts?
Ed 144
Yes pine harbour does, also the landing at Orakei
Ex Machina 384
Whangarei looks like it may be the next haulout hub . But the old port area is undergoing some suburbanisation …it could go the same way as Beaumont street in the future
waikiore 444
There are other ways of hauling than travellifts just saying....

Of course - can dry out on the mud flats as well. Doesn't make it convenient or preferred anymore than a cradle. Sure I would consider other options when all the travel lifts are gone or none are available, but we are not there yet...
ex Elly 221
This is crazy. NZ's biggest marina, and no hardstand/ haulout nearby. How does this happen. Where is the planning, where is the foresight? We used to have sailmakers, riggers, boatbuilders, chandlers, bookshops. Now most are gone. Why didn't the council create a marine precinct with low rates and low rents only allowed for marine businesses? What a disaster!

Great service!
1paulg 20
The Landing at Okahu Bay has a doubtful future depending the outcome of a recent survey and Council decision making
