I guess YNZ missed the irony.

Books, no, but there are some pretty good resources on youtube. Andy Miller at Boatworks Today has done quite a lot on glass/composite repair, such as this one on glass over ply:

Yeah it's blocked here. Was fine when I watched it on youtube yesterday.

No doubt a bad call, but I'm curious about the details of the legal issue involved. Of course 'details' is not something you could ever accuse the Herald of dabbling in.
-
So now you are being impolite??

Compared with Willow's video, it seems like Florida got off relatively lightly. Of the youtube channels I follow, those in Florida that have reported in so far have come through ok. One couple got stuck in St Marten and predictably lost their boat. Webb Chiles boat, Gannet, was on the hard in Marathon in preparation for the final leg of his circumnavigation and satellite photos indicate that she seems to be ok.

My guess is that the video was put together before Burling joined Brunel. The article talks about him, but the video does not.

A nice profile, currently linked from their US home page (highlighted in the image below) - http://cnn.it/2xvnYwn

I'm sure the shareholders are fully appraised of all the economic factors involved and won't move forward unless they decide there's a clear business case that justifies them risking their capital. Oh wait...

Something I didn't know... "Marsden Cove Marina, which is half-owned by the regional council..." No doubt ratepayers in Kerikeri, Mangonui, Kaikohe and Kaitaia are just thrilled.

Will be interesting to see if Ashby stays. I wouldn't blame him if he bails.

Every story I read like this one just reminds me why I will never live in Auckland again. How's that working out for ya? Funny, I can think of a few marinas that aren't under socialist ownership and that people somehow manage to enjoy just fine.

Speaking of brokers, someone should tell Vinings that nearly 2 dozen TM listings they put up yesterday are missing all their photos. Don't people look at these things after they post them?
-
Would be interesting to know more about the logistics/costs of getting it to NZ if he can be persuaded to post here.

There are also some new ex-charters currently listed on TM - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/centreboard/auction-1399695780.htm

I dealt with several brokers last summer, in Auckland and Picton. I thought most were very good. Particularly appreciated the service from NZ Boat Sales in Picton. The one bad experience was the guy at Laurie Collins. I phoned and made an appointment to see a boat, drove an hour along with my Dad to get there at the agreed time, but he refused to show me the boat because he had someone else (apparently more important) coming to look at another (apparently more important) boat. Other commitments meant I simply couldn't reschedule before I left the country. But as far as I know someone else did

Nice looking hard dodger on small boat-difficult (impossible) task
MarkMT replied to nagy592's topic in MarineTalk
I would suggest asking yourself the question - What is the absolute lowest height I need that will provide the functionality I really need? -
The latest Westhaven News has an article about the used boat market that notes something I hadn't thought about, the impact of immigration -

Conrad demonstrates the pronunciation here - http://bit.ly/2hE9Qtw Not sure I could reproduce it.

The disturbing trend of neglected boats around New Zealand
MarkMT replied to mcp's topic in MarineTalk
That may be what the article is referring to, but if it is it seems like a bit of a lazy characterization of what the thread is about. The headline proclaims there's a "disturbing trend" but does little to actually validate that. As they say "All the boats that have come into Kaikoura we've been able to eventually find owners for, or the owners haven't abandoned it in the first place." I'm more than willing to believe that there is such a trend, but of course demonstrating that would require actual journalism. Good luck with that. -
Completely coincidentally, I happened to pull his book off the shelf today and flicked through it. Have it sitting right next to me. What ever happened to him?

Should mention that the proposal is not from ETNZ.

Proposal to build team bases at Westhaven - http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11897235 Looks kind of a tight fit to me.
