I had a friend with a beach bach at Pukehina, opposite White Is. He figured if it went bang he'd have 10 mins to sit on the beach and enjoy his view of the apocalypse.

On the first boat I got sick of the old VDO thingy breaking down so threw it overboard. Then sailed another 30,000 with a spit over the side and a guess, got pretty accurate after a while.
