  1. When drifting say south, cast in that direction and wind as boat drifts to where you cast,1/2oz is a good starting point up to 3/4oz shouldnt need to go any heavier. I very rarely drift as most of the time current against the wind, prefer a stable platform so normally anchor and cast ahead and wind back
  2. or could try korubas, ball thing with a shirt and hooks, jigs up and down.Idle for rod holder.
  3. Had huge success while anchored, just keep s/b about 150mm off the bottom and boat movement keeps it moving, just gone to Zman for zilch, gone back to gulp pink/green 4inch seems to work ok,not a lot but a feed.Gulp has a sauce in packet and zman seems dry and need to add a sauce for it to work.
  4. Guess the obvious thing to have done was catch his/her attention and explain the rules.Just incase he/she didnt know. Currently any person in NZ can buy size vessel without any knowledge of seamanship or knowledge of rules.
  5. The fizz boat I use, less wake 25knts than 5 knts but yep its not safe to do so,The jetskiers who armed with rods etc take things serious those that hang around beaches etc are the cowboys and need to be jumped on.
  6. just point a flare pistol
  7. Still has interest 😁.not their first offence either.
  8. can be but if first offence its a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket Unlike Ausie fines start at $3k and depending on level of offending can loose house etc Check out fines for Hawkes bay seafoods https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/110796845/massive-fine-of-more-than-1-million-for-hawkes-bay-fishing-business-and-directors and they now have vessels and business as usual
  9. Great they got caught but the disappointing part is yet to come.It will be no more than a $250 fine.
  10. Correct but seem to be hell bent on going over the top on some equipment(YNZ) compared to what MNZ requires Is this the reason as to why some fleets have dropped off.Cat 4 covers harbour/inshore. Why would I need lea clothes on the bunks or bloody toilet/bucket fitted for a harbour race??Then this nonsense, need approved water containers but no mention of carrying water till cat 3.
  11. One would presume that MNZ overrides YNZ in the event of a mishap YNZ couldnt prosecute you but can exclude your entry etc But MNZ could prosecute. Probably need a test case as to the legality of YNZ to up hold or supplement safety gear.
  12. Prevention is better than cure. Full tank and buy where regular turn over of fuel. Even petrol has the bug but due to usage it doesnt take hold.
  13. Its a funny sort area, east bastion reef has 2 red and a green but you go north of the red and south of the green but when entering the river its opposite to what you think and reason is we operate in a clockwise direction around nz and the ebb?(incoming) also dictates, many have come unstuck around kawau island as well. If you look at the markers off musick pt red close to point and green slight out,you go between the 2 yet as I stated east bastion is opposite. When come thru chanel off musick Gren to stb and red to port no isue there but the red off karaka you take to stb coming in.
  14. Agree, not trying to make an excuse here ,but may of thought abandon after being there 5 days, the same company pulled mine off in hours, maybe an insurance issue or waiting for 3.2m tides??
  15. Didnt see the marker?? or should it read ,chart plotter feed wrong info while having another GnT?
  16. I was referring to launch on fire. How many have tested their gas detector lately?? All very fine having one fitted but is it working?
  17. How many owners leave vessel for months,no or little maitaince and just hope it's all working?? Ie.no idea of basic checks.
  18. So what is the difference of a cruiser being at sea for 14 days and the arrival of HMNZS TE KAHA from Canada?? being at sea 15 days counts as isolation.Hmm bit one eyed.
  19. As much as I struggle to watch the AC75s.It is totally amazing to see a 75footer foil. But as for the racing aspect completely boring to me.Much rather go to local pond and watch iom racing or the unrestricted marblehead class. At least they can be matched racing. But this AC75 stuff is a fore gone conclusion (in most cases)win the start have won the race. Hope I am the only one that feels this way but cannot see it being a future major event.
  20. On slightly different note, compost, has anyone had issues using compost and geting all sorts of unwanted weeds appearing??particularly some leafy thing with red steem and it spreads.
  21. The ban or more correctly the ban of dredges came about from the AGM for NZSFC whose members wanted a ban.Legasea have come out and said "The public have spoken and want a ban"what a load B/S. A mother bed was found 3 or 4 yrs ago on the western side of Coromandel and by all acounts could of been the breeding stock for the gulf but commercial wiped it out in one season.
  22. This is her. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/listing/2894170053?bof=s8Jq6Auo under q/a According to the race plaque that was on the bulkhead (Auckland to Mooloolaba 1985; second place)she is called Saint Stefan.

Nine of the female crays had eggs, and five were too small. All 17 crayfish were returned to the sea alive." The patrol located a recreational long line in Deep Water Cove, Bay
