  1. Crikey Bill How old is that photo?
  2. Wild thing had a huge birthday about 8 years ago by adrian. included a new transom, new carbon mast, new sails, new keel. She goes like a rocket. Sold to nelson where she is raced regularly. Beautiful boat. Public Image is another 8.4 in Auckland which was given a wee birthday at the Weiti River a few years ago used for a season then ignored for several seasons. She was sold recently, I'm not sure where to. She was built by Mr Vorpal blade who is a member on here.

    Snowflakes?

Yeah interesting. I still can't imagine how a 75 foot version is going to work or what the advantage is over the cats will be. I'm sure they will have nice BIG floaty masts to stop them falling all the way over .
  5. yep sounds like she's got the pox, I'd be surprised if she didn't. My father had a lotus 10.6 and the osmosis job on her was around 15k
  6. Sold Rafferty Rules. Best and worst day of your life is when you sell a favorite Boat
  7. Yup she looks a serious mess!
  8. good outcome at the end of the day. Our beautiful boats can be replaced and resurrected. Most of the time they will outlive us, look at Ranger and some of the other A class yachts. People can't be replaced !! Memories last - she was a great boat.
  9. yep agreed, top bloke.
  10. I reckon Wazp would be better than an elderly phase 2, Puff.
  11. Sunday weather looks YUK !! Hope you're all back by then. the party might be a bit of a fizzer.
  12. I'm not that impressed to be honest. First impressions is that they look amazing but... They seem pretty fragile and actually not that fast unless blast reaching in flat water. I can beat a wasp upwind in 10- 15 knots single handing my javelin by sailing much higher and the Nacra 5.5 absolutely takes them apart upwind and downwind in a breeze. The wishbone boom doesn't actually seem to work very well. They have just got new larger foils which might make them quicker and I believe they are working on the reliability issues. I have several friends with them and get mixed reviews. Quite
  13. Nice to see you working on my boat adrian Yes freedom has a really good set up. Let the top mast side stay off upwind to allow the mast to flick off and depower. Crank it on a bit downwind to keep the mast straight.
  14. psp limited in albany they just gave me off cuts for free https://www.psp.co.nz/
  15. Were they 2 boat match racing? You can't actively "hunt" unless 2 boat match racing. If they were fleet racing then boat A is in the wrong under Rule 14 If they were match racing "its all on" and boat B would be in the wrong. Four rules about general limitations: [Part 2, Section B] Even if you have right-of-way, it is your duty to avoid a collision, once it becomes apparent that the other boat is not keeping clear (Rule 14). If you acquire right of way, you must initially give the other boat room to keep clear, unless you get right of way because of the other boat's actions.
  16. Sniper has joined the waitlist. Wouldn't it be nice to have four E1050's in the race
  17. Hey Ken these guys are boaties from up our way. good at digital printing etc. Keith should be able to sort something out for you. https://www.signsolutions.co.nz/about
  18. That's quite a bit lighter than I expectyed and lighter than the elan which is around 2800kg. Short rig tho
  19. I wonder what it weigh's can't find anything on the website. Like the elan its probably quite a bit heavier and thus slower than our local boats like the R930, Y88. Twin wheels is stupid on a boat so small ! They just clutter the cotpit
  20. Wasn't too bad, mainly the paint all had to come off which entailed hours of sanding. Structurally she was very sound with only a little bit of rot to take out.
  21. Hey snap I've just finished my javelin. 1983 hal wagstaff design. easy to sail and goes like sh*t off a shovel. was offered for free on this site. I love resurrecting good old boats
  22. Fantastic race thanks Richmond and all the other organisers. From the Freedom we had a great race. My crew was suffering a serious sinus infection but stuck it out and managed to stay awake long enough to hold the talking stick, while I did the sail changes ( good onya Liz). Fro off the start in a light easterly, managed to lay north head and found out how shallow it really is going into narrowneck beach as we came to a soft stop. No problem on a cat, let everthing go, pull up the dagger board and off we go again. Sub-optimal tho and hoots of laughter from TC on Pulse made sure we got o
  23. definately classed as a multihull. Obviously that's why it flipped ..........dangerous things. I bet he won't try that again !!
  24. looked like pretty massive swells down in foveaux straight though...
