YOU OWE ME HALF A BOTTLE OF RUM COEN !!!
-
Tough day for team Freedom. we were going really well until our main delaminated and a 1 metre rip appeared. very tough to watch Hooters and Attitude sail away from us upwind. A wee vid of the day.

I'm not sure I entirely agree. For one, I know that sailing at 12 knots upwind and 15 - 20 knots downwind on a GBE is significantly more fun than 4 knots everywhere on an h28. The racing is really fun at high speed too as there are more passing lanes at high speed. if some one drops into a hole or gets a lift a boat which is out the back door can be right back in the game. I see kids all gravitating towards foiling boats and trapeze boats - because they are more fun to sail I am interested in the golden globe but I think the VOR or Vendee globe is more of a spectacle

Snow, mainly pays for my boats!! So no it doesn't suck!! I do agree that ice is best surrounded by rum though.

How expensive is it to recast a jandal into a bulb? Einstein is an elliot 10 and has the original jandal - which buttf&*k ugly and causes handling issues. i.e when she gets over powered she won't slide sideways, but sticks her nose in and pulls her rudder out of the water and rounds up. with a very similar hull shape to the 1050's they don't seem to do this. Does any one know what keel Hysteria has?

I hope it doesn't wash the snow away

Charleston would be a pretty good boat for this race. sailing north brrrrr
-
Sounds good - either way we both win
-
The Bris boats actually look vaguely ok. I think he's lost it Exlex is going to be his coffin
-
There's a good chance he'll die of old age before he gets down here. It does make Swirly look rather racy and seaworthy though doesn't it.
-
The good thing is that he won't get past the north sea. He won't be our SAR problem.
-
damn someone got a pic of the Freedom's wineglass. That was well knotted !! ....and slow!
-
congrats mate, Nice boat. You will have alot of fun in her.
-
why not replace it with more ply? Treated stuff this time and cover it with epoxy. or a hardwood pad.
-
he was lucky to be alive by the sound
-
Yep she's a bullet proof little boat and he's done some fairly epic journey's already. Would Swirly world get cat 1 ???
-
at least he has a bit of a cabin rather than just a cover to pull over the cotpit. And he's leaving from coffs rather than tasmania. Still pretty dodgy I hope he doesn't have a family to leave behind like Andrew McAuley. http://tasmankayak.com/

Apparently he was a barrier local went just off tryphena for a fish in the comp with his daughter and everything died. Yes its not the world best boat but he wasn't far offshore when he had the engine / electrical issue. Then he dragged his anchor for 2 nights to Waiheke!! I'm glad my boat has an epirb, vhf, handheld vhf and we have a couple of waterproof phones as well. Maybe hard to achieve on a tight budget. I bet he'll buy an epirb now!! Thank goodness it was a good outcome

Hey all With us buying a half share in an 8.5 cat and a half share in an Elliot 10 (the white boat in the photo) the time to let Rafferty Rules go to a new home has come. She is a truly awesome boat and an absolute giant killer. It's a sad day for me! I have had sooooo much fun on her!! She has an extensive racing and cruising inventory. r780 class with a removable prod and top spreaders. New mast and rigging 2016. Cathedral rig with removable top spreaders by nz rigging ( bart) 1 masthead, 2 fractional kite halyards Class main -windward mylar kevlar Square top main- doyles stratis

Gave Rafferty Rules a clean in the weekend and discovered that my deep cycle battery is toast so replaced it with a new battery. Went through and checked the electrics and had a potter around with her THEN DISCOVERED SOME FAAAARKTARD HAD STOLEN MY OUTBOARD!! It was there on about Thursday last week. What is it about some people. They went down our driveway sussed it out, went and got tools. cut the padlock off and the electrical wires and then used a spanner to remove the outboard as I'd taken the levers off the clamp to make it harder to remove. Yes its insured but I feel vi

I reckon $ 5200 is peanuts considering he wrote off a 55k boat and almost killed three people.

The rainbow knight and VB catching up. so we had to peel from a little kite to a big kite. Hooks bay the morning after the night before Lovely.
-
She's in raft up mode. the ama's / foils are hiding under the boat. You mean this one, I had a look at her a couple of weeks ago while in San Francisco.
