  1. Yeah, with VHFs the call signs need to be updated when changing boat ownership. The call sign provides valuable information to the Coastguard the vessel and primary contacts. Well wortk going to http://www.callsigns.co.nz/, or try calling the Coastguard, I found them really helpful... https://www.coastguard.nz/about-us/contact-us/ FYI An owner can transfer the Call Sign from one boat to another if desired when changing boat.
  2. Andrew at SailIQ made us a New Genoa this year. Black Aramid, hand made in NZ... Very happy with the sail. Great service.
  3. Looking for a replacement wheel for the Dinghy Wheel - Yachtsman brand One of the wheels fell off (dodgy split pin) and can't source spares. Cheers Scott
  4. Try Alternative Boat Windows. 021 536 366 They replaced a tempered glass window for me and did a nice job. They might do acrylic.
  5. Tracking the Vendee Globe http://tracking2016.vendeeglobe.org/hp5ip0/
  6. We're gonna give it a lash in Oliver Sudden.
  7. You could always try Joe and the team at www.theboatbuilders.co.nz at HMB. I saw them working on a Holding Tank on a boat on my Pier.
  8. smithy09, that looks great. Not just the carbon either. The Allen Head Dome Bolts look much tidier than the old slotted heads.
  9. Yeah, seen the Porto witches. Grunty bit of hardware. Nice to see some some innovation.
  10. Has anyone got feedback on using Low Friction Rings as block replacements....? The Rings look great for barber hauler, cascading backstay etc... what about as a sheet block replacement?
  11. Found a supplier, but they need a run of at least 4 to go ahead. They all need to be the same chart, so far they have 2 interested in Approaches to Auckland, NZ 532. The Big Fish, Cascades Road, Pakuranga is organising these. If you're keen contact either Phil or Andrea. 09 576 2764. Hopefully can get a enough orders and the cost is realistic. Thanks to everyone for all of the ideas and alternatives. Boots, I haven't got to BBYC to ask about the leaners / tables, but I know the ones you mean... Phil at Burnsco HMB put me onto The Big Fish.
  12. Good point. Must checkout the BBYC club tables. Didn't get to the club Sunday. Cheers
  13. Thanks Wheels. Was hoping for a hard laminated chart. Would have been simpler. The technique you've descibed sounds very feasible. Cheers
  14. The big T. Are you thinking TransPacific has hard laminate charts or does Doming Resin etc...?
  15. I was under the impression the chart was laminated with something and could not be damaged by humidity and were really tough.
  16. Looking for a Hard Laminated Chart for Chart Table. You know the sort, heaps of keelers have them on the lid for the freezer / chart table. Attached is an example from Google images... I've Googled all sorts of variations of laminated chart table, hard laminated, melamine laminated.... No luck. Spoke to the people at www.boatbooks.co.nz in Westhaven and www.mapandchartshop.co.nz/ in Hamilton and they don't know where to get them from. Any thoughts on where or even how to make these...? Cheers
  17. Rosenfeld Kidson in Auckland supplies Teak and other exotic and speciality timbers... I'm not connected with them in anyway. Otherwise, you might get lucky with someone offering an off-cut.

    Coastguard

I agree with wheels. Coast Guard and St John Ambulance should be Government funded. Seems unusual that we have state funded hospitals, Fire Department and ACC etc, but some prevention and emergency services require corporate sponsorship and public donations.
  19. Cule Hatches made a custom front hatch for Oliver Sudden a couple of months ago. Easy enough job to replace. Looks good and works well.
  20. There's also a Super Market, Chemist, Chandlery and a bunch of restaurants at HMB now. Handy for cruising when needing to re-stock.
  21. Fuel Info for Halfmoon Bay Marina... http://www.hmbmarina.co.nz/about/facilities/fuel-dock-info
  22. Hey Ray At 2.4m draft suggest not going up the estuary at dead low tide, otherwise you'll be OK. Don't take the Eastern short cut through Musick Point unless close to high tide. There is fuel available on inside Half Moon Bay Marina. On the left as you go in, next to the sea break. Don't this there is pedestrian access (I've never tried) but if you motor in there you shouldn't need it. There is a public loading wharf on the boat ramp side of BBYC marina. Don't think it is for long term. Tie up and load up sort of stuff. Plenty of parking, all well marked by the boat
