BP did you go ahead with the Iridium Go? Thoughts?

Report was made to MPI. Mate - I wasn't asking for any advice and I can tell right from wrong. I can also estimate the size of a 15cm snapper from 50m using binoculars, just to clear that up. Perhaps some reading around libel laws would be instructive for you as well. Kevin - feel free to deal with a similar situation however you judge to be the best way. I'll do the same and refrain from criticising your methods as I definitely won't be near enough to you to witness it. To me it is theft to be taking these fish. It is against the law and that is not an opinion.

Anchored in Kiwiriki with friends aboard. Idly watching this a%#ehole fishing away in about 10 m, stray lining. He hooks up and pulls out about 15cm snap, throws it in the bin. I couldn't believe it so I told my mate and we both watched him do it again and again. He could see us watching so he started to retrieve from inside the covered cockpit when the boat was hanging away from us. He was at it for about 4-5 hours. Before you ask why I didn't say something at the time - wifey wouldn't let me go thermonuclear at him in front of our friends. The boat is a Vindex 375 called Affinit

Doesn't it have alloy framing? If I am correct the real issue may be fizzing and it would be a bugger to fix, if it was possible. I may be wrong, survey would confirm.

Where did you get those mats to hold your mugs when you are sailing with extreme heel? I'd like to get some....

Coastguard are looking for sailors to contribute via a focus group. Let me know if you are interested.

An opportunity for someone to contribute positively towards stuff that would benefit a lot of us yachties. I emailed CoastGuard to point out that Winddan was really useful to the yachting community. I've had a response from them to ask if I'd like to contribute to a focus group in February. I'm planning to be in the South Island but offered to see if I could find a replacement. I would stress that the person involved needs to approach this with a constructive, open-minded and positive attitude, otherwise nothing will happen. I would suggest we could discuss suggestions on-line befor

On the navigation pane there is a GoTo, but that only seems to have Co-Ordinates as the option. I couldn't see a way of having the GoTo use waypoints, which would make sense in my head.

Yep that is great if the waypoint is not far away.

It's the NAC 3, using a AP44 or the NSS9 EVO3. The compass is a rate compass. All this sh*t cost a lot of money. The Autopilot controls (and their descriptors) are: Turn Rate - Target rate of turn used for heading change Rudder Gain - Ratio between heading error and rudder command Counter Rudder (secs) - Counteracts the effect of turn rate and inertia Autotrim - Corrects for static heading error induced by environmental forces ... and a few more that don't have relevance Coming back from Barrier yesterday I was fiddling with the Rudder Gain. Originally it was set to 0.25, this

I would like to adjust the pilot so it doesn't try and steer a really really straight course, as in with a quartering sea it isn't going ape flicking the wheel back and forth. In The Olden Days you would have a control called some variant of "gain", or "sea state". I don't see anything that seems to have this effect. I must say that the control descriptions are not particularly helpful. Any ideas appreciated.

Looking for recommendations for someone to rebuild my pump and ram, hopefully in Whangarei. I need an expert as I'm still having problems getting the thing to work properly and I suspect there's a fault in the pump.

Oblong hole. Make the flange for the inside with welded studs that pass through the tank from the inside and then bolt through an exterior plate. The exterior plate will have the tank sender mounted through it. Might sound complicated but it is pretty simple in practise.

Loving my Seafarer 2.4 rib. Made in TPU so should be good for a while. Bought it in June and haven't added any air yet... https://www.seafarerinflatables.co.nz/ -
Hydrogen + Oxygen = Water. That is the result of hydrogen "combustion". It isn't a Hydrocarbon.

One wonders about the marriage of racing and cruising. Not optimised for either so?...
