  1. was just a thought, listen to KM, i think he tries to sail javs sometimes...
  2. Heres a random idea - look for a 10mm eyebolt and eyenut? Nice smooth edges for dyneema. Will be costly bolt, but cheaper than $30 a side? http://www.anzor.co.nz/marine-hardware/eye-bolts/s307-316-eye-bolt/product http://www.anzor.co.nz/marine-hardware/eye-nuts/s3061-eye-nuts/product
  3. I've heard 930s struggle against 88s, and that heaven and hell dude is pretty bloody consistent. You be back in when KM? In time for the BJ tyres weekend away? (23/24? Jan)
  4. i had you blocked OC, but you are so funny to read I've had to take you off the foe list.
  5. I spotted some lightweight racing Jandals at the bar.
  6. Yup, I thought the better of wasting time answering some dumb sh*t troll, so deleted my response.
  7. a good day out there. massive fleet of 41(?) boats. Very light start, then maybe 10 knot puffs on the way out the channel. but then breeze dropped right off again, and there was a frustrating hole between the E and SW? breeze? i seemed to get stuck in it on the way to northern leading then again on way to finish. A fun challenge after the race getting everyone rafted up on the working berth, and as always, some great spot prizes. Thanks BBYC, SailIQ ans BJ tyres. Had a nice motor home in the dark, beautiful night.
  8. Wow, 38 boats! That's epic.
  9. I've contacted the EPIRB people yesterday to deregister one, and add info to my PLB for the Hobart. Super quick responses in both cases. Barbera I think was the name of one. In past dealings with maritime radio they have been nothing but good as well.
  10. Think that sums it up for me too. The idea that life jackets should be compulsory at all times by law and then hope discretion by enforcers will be employed is quite possibly the (comment deleted by myself to save Matt the time and prevent a warning)
  11. I don't think we should have laws to protect the ignorant. only problem is that injuries caused by idiots (not wearing seat belts for instance) cost us money. Kevin, if you make your guests wear life jackets on calm dinghy rides, I never want to come sailing with you. I wear them when I want to. Have often thought if I go over it will be BECAUSE of the tether or lifejacket. I capsized my boat last year, only 1 of the 3 crew was wearing life jacket and it was a hindrance. I was carrying a knife, it was a useful and reassuring tool. Kevin and grant, people clearly have differe
  12. That is incredible, I thought catching them aboard a yacht that had been reported stolen was a done deal. Someone stuffed that up pretty badly.
  13. In many races, such as soloiq or Ssanz races they are compulsory, at least for multis with no lifelines anyway. Hell no to a law change, in 5 knots and sun, no way in hell in putting one on, unless in above races

So did they flip the gc32? Looks fine to me?

    Sigh....

Having wake up coffee, so hope I make sense here. Is it crushing or tension cracking? When going upwind, the base of the leeward board will be pushed against the inside of the hull, so your planned extra support will be a tension member? Only if you are loading up the windward board upwind will in add significant support? I would think filling in the other side of the case, against the hull, with more support might achieve more?
