Pumbaa 9
The predictwind trackers seem to be a bit unreliable. Boats dropping in and out of signals. It seems a bit strong to threaten a 10% time penalty for a system that is less than reliable. I'm sure it's for refusal or deliberately turning it off for some advantage but still. ScottiE 174
Sundreamer well back - suffering in the light. Ken on Voom is going well - he'll start stretching his legs shortly if the breeze frees up a little.
philstar 61
Stretching legs - whatever. fleet not even past Whangapoaroa yet. Sundreamer pulled out. It was like this about 4 years ago on Bump n Grind. we got just off tiri and pulled out, back to gulf harbour to get on the piss. Gonna be a loooong night for them. and no wind in sight either. boo sux!!
waikiore 400
I don't suppose there is much foiling going on off westhaven either?
Richmond 2
Check out some great shots of the start on our Facebook page. Here's the latest PredictWind tracker shot - only one boat through Tiri passage so far...

I agree that if this situation was to eventuate the SI's should be clearer than the current "each competitor will be required to use the PredictWind GPS tracking service in this year's race. Boats that fail to track will be ineligible for PredictWind spot prizes and risk receiving a 10 minute penalty on elapsed time." What is the definition of fail to track??? Adrianp 120
Looks like Hupane the Class 40 is heading home too. Just come past Rangi Light.
Deep Purple 512
Sundreamer pulled out. Yeah, I'm playing a wedding tomorrow evening on Waiheke. Wasn't prepared to risk not getting back in time.
erice 732
took an hour to get to north head
erice 732
I don't suppose there is much foiling going on off westhaven either? as we came back in etnz were just foiling towards okahu bay and the red bull flying phantoms were very occasionally getting up on their foils in front of westhaven

erice 732
i hear 18 finished presumably before the Sat. 7am cut-off
Deep Purple 512
i hear 18 finished presumably before the Sat. 7am cut-off Once the tide turned at 4am? it would have been very hard to get in the harbour. I see quite a few on the tracker turning around almost in sight of the finish
Clipper 343
Apparently a few made it to 7 buoy with 90mins to go and never made the finish at 9 buoy. Must be gutting. Voom finished at about 1:20am? And I was knackered!
ex Elly 197
Apparently Oracle got within half mile of finish line. But the outgoing tide is quite an impediment.
SMU's Crew 4
I've been in a different race that finished at No 9 buoy and was stuck between No 7 and No 9 trying in vain to get there in no wind. Wind died just past No 7. The only thing that made us cross the finish line was that the tide changed...first time ever finishing a race with the boat completely sideways. It was the tide that made us finish the race, not the wind at all. I feel the pain of those boats that got stuck....so frustrating.
SMU's Crew 4
and still trying to find results? With only 18 finishers does someone remember so they can share maybe? Or was there too much rum after the finish perhaps...can't remember?!

Done an Onerahi 100 way back, the skipper was the first to finish, going backwards.
