Clipper 358
Change to junk rig. Yup, if you want to go slow, look stupid and have average windward performance. I'm sure Greg Elliot would love to see a 10.6m junk rigged Elliott too, he would be so proud. 1
Cantab 341
Silicone 808 from CRC worked for me, spray mast track and slides.

Cantab 341
Any silicone residue end up on deck? I recall someone saying NO silicone lube within 50m of boat. Yeah, know about fisheyes etc. Know about slipping on deck at inopportune moment too. Didn't spray it on the deck, probably makes it nice and shiny, but i'll leave that up to someone else to try if you can find someone that stupid. Meanwhile it works bloody brilliant on sail slides and tracks.
Cantab 341
I actually did my mast while it was lying down on the hard (not attached to boat!), but I would and have sprayed the slides and lower track on the boat. The effect is magic. You can put a little tube on the spray nozzle which helps direct it but I don't think its essential.
chariot 244
Dry Glide for me. Also use it on my Genoa car tracks and main traveler.
Ex Machina 384
I wrecked the balls in my traveller car with Sailkote . It makes them skid on the track rather than roll which gives them flat spots

ex Elly 221
Put some dishwashing liquid and water in a spray bottle. Use this to clean all ball bearing fittings.

Black Panther 1,688
Why all the hatred of junks? Ive come to the conclusion bermudan sloops are not very good but i would never be rude enough to say so to someone who owns one.
raz88 97
Why all the hatred of junks? Think a pointless unhelpful comment on a tech question thread suggesting a change to junk rig might be the primary reason? Plus in general junks are slow, look stupid, and have average windward performance...

My wife's uncle did a 7 year circumnavigation in Junk rigged boat, including the Aleutians, Alaska etc. They are a niche cruising rig with pros and cons, not for me but I think they have their place. Yeah I don't disagree with that. Doesn't help with hoisting the main single handed on a 35 foot Elliott though.
