ex Elly 221
Napier is out of action. So latest plan is for a 3 leg race. Mangonui, Picton, then round East Cape to Auckland. But if too much debris or lack of rescue services, then after Picton back up west coast round North Cape to Auckland.
waikiore 439
Surely there is an opening for an in port event at Napier -log rolling , any Canadians entered?
waikiore 439
Nice to see Playbouy going the full classic route for this event -with a bowsprit as Pahi and the other glass one did when they went round a few years back.
Psyche 718
Theres a long list of time consuming work getting a boat ready to do this race!
CarpeDiem 510
My heart goes out to the Playbuoy team! It's incredibly disheartening for them to face such a major setback after investing months of planning and effort towards reaching the starting line. To have the rug pulled out from under them must be a crushing blow to their aspirations. 2
BNG 50
Oh no!! What happened? Someone hit them in marina or something gave up? If the later probably better to happen now than in a blow 250nm off the west coast. Very sad to see either way.
ex Elly 221
Pre-start incident. And Start Me Up is looking for a welder when they get to Mangonui. Meanwhile the boats are in now in Bream Bay, and those who have gone into the beach are running out of wind, while those who stayed out have good breeze. E.g. Urban Cowboy now doing 2.6 knots, and Shimmer doing 6.3 knots.

Psyche 718
We pulled the mast out of Playbuoy this morning, obviously very disappointed but the boys have already moved on and planning for the RNZ.
