I sold the motor to help fund cat 3 so never got there . I did come across the topic on an American forum where someone did the exact same thing and apparently the vacuum from the tank on the motor sets up siphon that sucks fuel from the tote tank . Also tne dude reckoned it only took 10-15 or so pumps from tne primer to fill the tank on the outboard but you have to crack the cap a bit to let air out

in all fairness the harbourmaster is going to have a lot on his/their plate orchestrating the whole deal and there will need to be a bunch of boats keeping the spectator fleet under control . and i dont think it will put off many superyacht owners who are used to paying much more for far less in the northern hemisphere.

apprarently the spores or whatever the bug reproduces with stick around so if you leave the fuel in the tank for a period of time it takes off again which happened to me first time i got it . cleaned the tank on the dozer new filters including the inline one it was good all summer then came back the following winter with the tank topped off. so its important to put a biocide in there to kill it

yeah remeber now it now the trade me ad showed a guy tootling around inside the boulder bank with no rig and a massive wheel

i used to sail a "borrowed" GBE from a mate and one of my regular crew was an ex german airforce aircraft enigineer . he sprayed the inside of the crossbeams with this fog thats designed for protecting the inside of aircraft wings from corrosion . Quick squirt either end of the beam and it drifts through and coats the surface . It was a corrosion X product but cant remember the name of it

i love karma police , deep throttle , blink etc and also Anarchy and crusader . yeah they would smoke the pants off any production boat but at 450-800k they will remain the domain of very successful dashing types . i reckon the dehler and fareast are the modern day equivalent of the factory E 1050 and if you adjust for inflation actually cheaper than what the E 1050s were new.

seascape 27 followed by flying tiger 10 cause i can keep a trailer yacht at our club for 400 bucks a year which leaves many thousands of dollars in the tank that would be spent just mooring and maintaining a keeler over its lifetime . seascape has just been inhaled by beneteau so maybe the price will come down a bit flying tiger seascape

Very similar to what I put on very good visual indicator of what’s coming out of tank . I clean it out with carby cleaner

Got it from filter HQ in whangarei rewa rewa road . Got the glass inline filter there too

Had a very bad case of the bug in my dozer . Drained the tank , put a small inline glass filter with cleanable mesh screen inside to catch the remaining sludge before it got to secondary and primary filters . Tried a couple of other brands of snake oil but this one is working the best it’s seems to break up tne sludge into finer sediment which I then clean out of the glass pre-filter . It also took everything out of suspension overnight the first time I dosed tank and fuel went clear . 100ml treats 1500 litres

I have some constructive criticism to add . We were asked to hold up our PFDs and tethers 15mins before the warning so the officials in the RIB could see we had them on board which is all good and reasonable . Problem is the official wanted the oldest looking one opened up and the service cert read out . We had the main up breeze was quite fresh and the were boats everywhere . Skip yelled out it was recently serviced and date and name of services was written in permanent marker and he didn’t want to unpack it . Official didn’t look impressed but those things are bastards to pack on l

115th on line out of 118 finshers . but to be fair it was very light upwind race and the guys were there more for the fun of it seemed to me

there was an almost new pogo 30 next to us at westhaven for the coastal classic . Two chaps at whitianga got it built and they raved about it no end . very cool boat and it drew a good crowd of well heeled old fellas from around the marina for the two days it was there , the quality of the gear was top shelf and the systems were very clever , bloody big boat for 30ft too plenty of free board and massive beam

very challenging race on thirsty work , sean did exceptionally well for a young fella and kept a cool head throughout a very gruelling race . we were about 30-40 mins behind t rex at hole in the wall on the return leg and 7 miles behind them at morning sked just after we cleared the mercs . the decision to go up the back of barrier was made early in the race to get cleaner air we blasted up with cracked sheets doing 7-9 knots and as knot me said very close to claris we cleared arid island with 500m to spare . at about this point seans phone died and i coudnt turn on the tracker on my

If you look at the economic impact of training for Olympic classes it just costs loads for very little return to the taxpayer or yachting in general with the exception of the America’s cup when we win it . Amateur sailors more often than not end up in the marine industry or crewing on superyachts etc heaps of them become professional sailors too . They also support the marine industry buying kit for boats and the plethora of other stuff that goes with owning or sailing a boat . Bang for buck seems much bigger to me in supporting the lower echelon , gifted kids will always trickle up t
