    Damn!!

I have a kiwi prop on a yanmar 30 with sail drive, when it starts to labour the motor going into reverse it is time to grease the prop, the center hub doesn’t like to get dry, usually after about 8months operation it needs a grease, 5 min job during a lift and wash, otherwise no issues, prop is approx 10 years old and still going well
  4. I sand blasted motor, then coated with interprotect, then wrapped in denso tape, no issues, been 7 years like that
  5. im in the HMB marina, always rinse boat off when returning, no issues so far, plus hauled out at Pine harbour bout 6 weeks back, no problem using the hose while sanding, and they encourage you to wash your work area down each day
  6. Do it your self it’s not hard, remove small Phillips screws , open and replace battery, I’ve done it twice on mine, no issues
  7. Have to agree with that mattm, i sailed on keelers as crew with a bit of racing aswell , i later joined Waiuku yacht club and raced a Laser, then moved up to a Finn, you sure do learn the rules quick when converging on the bottom mark in a big breeze and there is a lot of yelling for bouy room lol,
  8. Be sure to have a good read of the fine print with insurance policy, ie racing cover, wouldnt want to T bone an expensive racing yacht.
  9. Boats back in the water this arvo, have anti fouled it but it’s got lots of rough patches , I didn’t have the time to do a strip back this time, so I’m planning for a years time to do it properly, looking to do the rig at same time,
  10. Thanks all for the info, sounds like strata clean will be my choice, I’ve been on the hard at pine harbour for the week, be great to be back afloat tomorrow,
  11. 5200, 5 years on still lookin good, on advice from a boat builder at loyd Stevenson’s
  12. My antifoul is going to need a full strip back next time around, I’m not keen on manually scraping it ,I’m getting a bit old for that now, has any one on crew used Strata Clean , Auckland based abrasive blasters ?, boat is 35 foot, I had liked x foul removal guy but don’t think he does it any more
  13. I went for a walk over to the hard stand, bit of a shock, most of the area is fenced off for the new marina development, going to be important to book well ahead for a haul out, I was booked to come out over Easter but lock down killed that
  14. Tripped into HMB today to check the boat, all was good, it was very hard to leave again, certainly a risky trip down the southern motorway on way home, lots of traffic, would have been far safer to go out for a sail lol.
  15. Sorry, I take that back, I am not a racist,
  16. So that means some stupid people can still go fishing of the rocks at lion rock Piha in a 3 mtr swell🤨
  17. good idea to regularly check the raw water inlet fitting on the exhaust mixer, I had mine off recently, because of a bit of steam coming from exhaust, mine was half blocked with corrosion,, now water coming from exhaust is tepid,
  18. i have been using Altex #5 ablative for the last 6 years, fairly happy with it, 2 years between bottom jobs, boats in a marina but gets regular use.
  19. My Father owned 3 Beale yachts, Open Country 36 ft, Summer Rain 42ft, and Mythos 38ft, all great boats that sailed well, Mythos sold in 5 days 7 years ago, and i believe it has just sold again , it was on trademe for about a week

    Shore power

Halfmoon bay allow 3 days connected with lead unattended, but you must inform marina office, security normally unplug it for you
  21. looks like a nice boat, has been forsale off and on for a while, price is coming down, will need a 12mtr berth tho, unless you got a mooring, lots of boats out there been sitting on the market and not selling, its been a buyers market for a long time, i purchased Whitepointer 6 years ago and some boats on the market then are still forsale
  22. Ray Beale has a similar design, which I think looks better aswell
  23. after advice from a boat builder I glued my SD20 fairing rubber on with 3m 5200, 5 years later still looking good with no edges lifting
  24. i purchased a waeco CFX 40 as a back up extra fridge, works a treat, very easy on the power
  25. had an Akron, few years old and started falling to bits, now have a sthn pacific rib, 2.4 mtr ,very light 24 kgs it can be a little skittery getting into but otherwise very happy with it
