  1. No one has a bigger boat than you on this board!
  2. Heres Casey Stoner, what a great rider
  3. Italians do it in style, my font is the current Ducati font BN Elements, but yours is very slick
  4. Raz are you sure its plastic and not some kind of GRP? It would have to be a pretty hard material to avoid getting scratched which is pretty unhygenic, which is why I presume most bowls are porcelain. If its a Jabsco check with Lustys but in any case if you cant find a lightweight replacement its not going to lose you any races, one bad tack and all that!
  5. Nice, interesting titanium hinges, the look 3D printed and as you say spendy, im guessing 2 boat dollars?
  6. No one outside yachting will notice or even care that much if they do. It's such an odd pursuit, carefully marketed to cultivate an association with average NZers but in reality its a competition between extremely wealthy individuals who couldnt give a hoot about nationalism, red socks or whatever unless it provided financial relief! Dalton is doing his job which is to extract as much money from whoever to achieve his goals, be it the Govt (you and me) or the Saudi's or the Frackers- the source of funds does not matter, nor does the location of the event. For me personally the gloss has
  7. Does anyone else feel a bit over the endless posturing?
  8. Next dipstick needs to be longer!
  9. What is this thing "guardrail" that you speak of?🤣 No lifelines or pushpit on a Stewart!
  10. Good discussion, I want to get a panel but since space is limited to an area approximately 1.2 m square on the coachroof I will need one that I can walk on when flaking the main if it is to be permanently fixed. I for boats under 12m that is probably the biggest issue; spare real estate. The alternative is a demountable rigid panel but that has its own set of issues with stowage, so its a bit of a tricky problem if you need a permanent power source.
  11. The so called modern anchors are not that modern anymore but the general difference is a concave scoop rather than convex flukes i.e ploughs dig in by literally making a furrow so they require a bit of runway and seabed composition like a farmers paddock and if you have ever ploughed a field with a wee Massey Fergusan 35 then you know how important soil structure and the absence of rocks are! The modern anchors are all a variation of a digger bucket with differences in degree of concavity, blade area, stiffness of structure etc. The Excel appears to be a hybrid with elements of the plough and
  12. Generally if there is an issue with a rudder its a good idea to remove it and inspect it carefully, consider it maintenance. It will be pretty basic and youll work it out quickly once its off. Rudders dont generally fail when its sunny and pleasant and you dont want to find out that it has a problem when youre smashing home in the Colville channel
  13. As the fuel pump is ok most of these small diesels are easy to work on.
  14. As new, used only a few times. Was going to bin them but they are pricey, 1.2 and 2m approx.
  15. Good work IT, when I last took my rudder out it took an hour of farting about on the hard to put the roller bearings in about 10 times!
  16. About a 100 years ago I worked in a plant nursery and they used a plain old sieve in a frame with handles either side for a couple of chaps to shake it with, suggest following nursery angle, they will often use sieves albeit much larger but should be able to point you in the general direction
  17. No, but if you go down the west coast you'll see plenty with a digger next to them, i believe they are gardening for gold🤣
  18. I think that would be up to the skipper, dont ask dont tell all the way to show me your papers. Most keelboat clubs will be pretty conservative but I cant see it going into the SI's
  19. Life is looking a lot better all of a sudden!
  20. Check out Topraks braking skills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RdtipNo0oQ otherwise known as Stoprak, epic WSBK title fight this year, taking Rea the 6 time champ to the wire and winning. Well deserved Champion
  21. As it applies to organised racing, Yachting NZ is the body that has the offical interpretation of the rules. https://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/clubs/covid-19-latest-updates and yes as Jon says the govt is making it up as they go along in response to a developing situation, there is no definitive date- for all we know we could be back in level 4 next week or level 1!
  22. Bk, definitely its a nice to have item and sounds like a good deal, whats the prepay options in NZ?
