  1. explain to owners in close vicinity why bronze props on 3 vessels showed signs of electrolysis, never a problem till this vessel arrived and owner was telling everyone how he had electronic device to stop foul?
  2. What ever you decide, cut it first with a semi sharp knife at home, trust me.And do not a kevlar braid,i found out the hard way
  3. Ha Ha works perfectly fine,do not no if it stops growth?but sure helps to eat up anodes of surrounding vessels in a mooring area.

Watched a program on orcas/whites and the orca is the only known predator to tackle whites, very clever mammals in the way they know just where the liver is and how to stun a white is interesting.Only seen orcas feed once down at ponui island labour weekend. Not at all disturbed by vessels in the close vicinity, while they went about the business of ray hunting.

    Pogo 36

Maybe a dumb question, but if their yachts are in such demand(2yr wait) why would they not build more moulds and get other yards to produce?or would that be a quality issue?

    Takeing on water.

I had a pressure type bottle that screwed on,auto greaser, when you put your stuffing in(usualy 2 strips)make sure that the joins are 180 degrees to each other,so water cannot get through join.
  13. From what I have seen of the pilot boat,it comes around north head and aims for no1 buoy,so i think the swimmer has gone along way offshore and if he was training would you not have a support dinghy/kayak etc for the just incase he ran out of steam? bit like young guy jogging with ear phones on crossing the railway line at Ranui last week, didn't hear/see the train and it would be the same imo the pilot boat, pink head very hard to see or mistaken for beach ball, need to wait for the full enquiry!

if its the old style with packing get 2 wrenches, back off one nut,the one towards stern and wind forward nut towards back nut, depending on gland should 6mm/8// packing material, once nipped up check grease in cap, usually on top of gland, fill with with grease and wind cap down, when stationary no drip, when motoring should get a slight one /two drips per minute, not a big job but usually in a tight place with limited access, what sort of yacht do you have now Shane?any pictures.
  15. seems to be the problem every where now,mussels/oyster shell etc must be disposed of into a rubbish bin etc,can no longer return to the sea, cannot understand why because that's where the damn things come from.
  16. we get 4kg bottles filled in manurewa at the www.cylex.co.nz/company/wormald+cylinder+test+station-17952672.html most are doing swappa bottles 9kg due to compliance costs of running a fill station, hence why 4kg may become obsolete
  17. Ha Ha "Scottie" perseverance paid off this season,Being the only yacht to do every race,4 x 1st 1x2nd 3x 3rds,so might of got series points.admittedly we have sailed better this season and a few races have favoured the smaller vessels due to the big boys not marching away in the light. At work so to go sailing told the boss these are the hours i will be working, yes i can get away with it as we fail to retain staff,we use temps so temps get no say. I can see this changing in the future though.

  19. lumleys was good to me when I had a total loss, house/cars at state but boat was over the top, I am with youi,(I know the stories) but the price is right,no survey required on a 35+yr old yacht, just is the mooring recently surveyed,Don't know what their claims are like never made one.but the policy looks ok been with them 3yrs.

    DIY autopilot

Thanks "Slanty",Have you tried any of the chinese sites for parts. As an example our hp laptop fan shat itself and a tech crowd wanted $280 to fix,my 17yr old geek student went on line and got free shipping and fan for $9.95. in the mix for some reason he got sent 20 air/water temps sensors for free and has since on sold them.. Not doubt the USA sites have their gear made in china so might be able to miss out the middleman?
