  1. Smallest boats entered are Elliott 7.9 and Ross 8. Biggest entered are Young 50 and Dickson 50.
  2. Been going since 1983. Sale starts this Saturday. https://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/news/sailors-corner-closing-down-sale?fbclid=IwAR1dAJhMLN2DyO6CwI7IlKqkuXLGAOEob-5WVRbzQuXoUN_e5LlTyN07nYI Wonder what will take its place? Another marine related business I hope. It is sad to see all the marine businesses being forced out of Westhaven - the exact place they should be. Why doesn't the council create a special marine business zone? Milk and phone companies don't need to be by the sea, marine companies do!
  3. Replacement footbridge to be built next year in time for America's club. Looks like it is a twisting or rotating type rather than a lifting bridge.
  4. The tide tables have been adjusted for daylight savings. In the past you wouldn't have seen this, as all times were in NZST, and the user had to manually add an hour for NZDT.
  5. Looks like the One Ton Cup Revisited 2015 - Chris Bouzaids old boats Rainbow II, and Wai Aniwa.
  6. Hmm, the last few miles have really impacted the results for the leg, and the whole race. Maybe the finish line should have been at Orakei? They don't finish in the harbour at Mangonui, or Napier. This is supposed to be offshore racing, not harbour racing!
  7. Thanks Muzza for the great photos! I sailed on Rhumbline a while ago. Rhumbline was based in Wellington early 2000's then moved to Sydney in 2005. Not sure where she is now.
  8. Titanium are pulling out quite a lead already.
  9. He was delivering a yacht from NZ to Brazil. He got thrown overboard by the mainsheet, in 2-3m seas. Wasn't wearing a harness or lifejacket. Used his jeans as a flotation device for 3 hours. When they brought the yacht into Gisborne it was hauled out, as someone spotted fan worm on it.

  11. German sailor survived using jeans as flotation, after being knocked overboard near Gisborne. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12211137
  12. Oh dear, the Farr 38s have had a bad night, getting left behind. Arbitare got becalmed from 1-6am, and Copellia from 5-8am. All the others kept moving at over 5 knots. Middle 3 are now looking famous, with Titanium and Krakatoa too far in and out.
  13. Copellia are even closer in, so I think Titanium are still racing.
  14. Looks like offshore is paying. Krakatoa smoking everyone on the outside. Titanium have somehow done ok till now near the coast, but they are really slowing now.
  15. Re Arbitare: "Murray is on his way back to the island after being in hospital over on the mainland for two doses of IV antibiotics after developing a nasty infection (of coral spores in the sea water) in his leg, he has been given clearance by the Dr and is on his way back to the ferry to meet up with Dave and set off after the others "
  16. Results are here http://richmondyc.org.nz/results/2018/club/R66/series.htm Last boat finished at 5am.
  17. Looks like 2 boats have stopped at Kawau, and maybe more on their way. Can't face a long night sail?
  18. Lead lines got removed from the rules about 8 years ago. I was surprised there wasn't any outcry at the time.
  19. I had the opposite situation, sold my yacht on TradeMe, and the top bidder refused to pay. He also messed up the auction for the serious bidders. I reported him to Trade Me, they did nothing.
  20. It looks like Krakatoas rest up at Jackson Bay has been a tactical winner for them! They are now close inshore doing 7-8 knots while Gale Force struggle a bit further out at 2-3 knots, and Coppelia just ahead doing 4-5 knots.
  21. I reckon Krakatoa should send a diver down. They must have one of those massive barnacle infestations like in the GGR!
  22. Did you forget about jetskis? These need to be registered, under council bylaws for lots of councils in NZ.
  23. Wow! Took 9 hours, and 930 dives/ breaths. And ate potato soup!
