My one is mounted in a stainless steel cradle on the Pushpit. Pretty nicely tucked out of the way and has a quick release strap around it. If you just need it for a voyage then you are welcome to borrow the cradle as I have taken it off for my summer cruise along with all that other stuff cluttering up the back end of the boat.

Our plan is to go north but will wait and see.

Man that was a tough race tactically. I was 2 handed on the Elliott 1050 kick. we had a great result respective to the boats we mix with but it was a small boat race for sure.

Yes absolutely fine to leave on the french flag. We had Noumea yacht services take care of the departure paperwork for us. Our NZ registration was done while we were at sea so we entered NZ under a new name and registration document and that was no problem. Then you have to pay the tax... 5% duty then 15% gst on top of that figure and the boat can't leave opua until that is done. I highly recommend you get a customs broker to take care of the importation.

NZ flag will only take you a few days. I have just gone through the same procedure and arrived in NZ from New Caledonia a few days ago. The hardest part is getting the flag deletion cert from the current registration and you can't get registered anywhere until you have that cert. The NZ authorities also need the cert to be translated into english. But once you have that cert it is only a day or so to be NZ registered. Our boat was registered in France and we waited almost 1 month for the cert and ended up leaving New Caledonia under the old registration and sorted it out once back in NZ.

It is true that he was rescued, I have a friend that knows him well and filled me in on what happened. He kept everything on the downlow for this one I think and from what I was told it wasnt really a rescue as such, he had rudder issues and then took an opportunity to get off the boat onto a passing ship or something. We are at pigeon bay in the corromandel rafted up to friends. Not too bad here but still fresh and wet. About 25 boats in the bay with us. Found a westhaven berth so off at 5am so I can at least get the afternoon at work. We have moved the Evolution loft to westhaven for the rest of the year until the new loft is finished.

Hey David, what's the bar like right now? We were planning to come home today or tomorrow but I'm worried about the river entrance and then need to get to westhaven for the Anzac race on Friday anyway but they are completely full and not taking any bookings. Im no expert but mucked around on a few diesels. I guess the first thing to check is if there is diesel actually getting to the engine. Could be a blocked filter or Air in the system but normally it would be a gradual fuel starvation and slow loss of power rather than an abrubt stop. The 2 fuel filters should be both on the intake side, a primary and a secondary. primary being combined with a water trap and then the secondary being a much finer filter. When were the filters last replaced? That oil filter looks like its been there a while... Normally these would be done eve

Yeah they are doing great. The boat has had a major turbo charge He would have spent substantially more than I paid for my whole boat on upgrades over the last year. Has done pretty much everything you could do to an older Elliott 13 to pimp it out. Its a very nice boat now but not sure if 'value' is a good word to use, that sh*t aint cheap!

Doubled up mine and checked all the boats on moorings around me. Lucky I did as a couple had issues which would have caused trouble. One boat had its stern bridal line wrapped twice around the rudder and that would have been the windward line. Was a bloody mission to sort out but better than having them break free and take us out. Think its going to be blowing 50+kts straight down the Weiti river in the wee hours of the night, could get interesting. Blokarting mission on the west coast tomorrow! Yeehaa.
