Been riding and racing (mostly racing as the M.O.T and I had trouble co-existing in my earlier years) on and off for the last 30 years. Jeez that makes me feel old.

Pics in order are;

Riding 600 Sports Production for Honda in 98 at Pukekohe.

Me on Robbie Dean's GSXR1100K War pig at Baypark around 93,

My ZXR400RRSP at Taupo after winning NZF3 Champs 96/7

Racing Robbie Dean's 96 GSXR750 Superbike at a televised car/bike meeting at Puke in 97?

Ok the pics jumble up a bit but here we have me racing 99 CBR900RR in Open Sports Production for Honda on NZ, then sh#t got interesting with a trip to the UK in 2000 to compete in the TT.

Took a Honda RS125R GP bike with me and leased an RVF400 over there. Went well with 2 Replicas and Newcomers award for 2000 👌🏽

Lucky enough to pick up a bit pf support over in the UK so packed up and moved there for 2001 Road racing season. Unfortunately for me "Mad Cow" pandemic hit the country super hard and most road racing including the TT was canned.

Got to race a bit in Ireland and Oliver's Mount in Scarborough but a pretty lean year!

2002 rolled around and I did a few more Irish events as well as the TT and Southern 100. Was fun and I managed an 8th in the TT.

Top pic is Church Bends Southern 100 2002

Next is Oliver's Mount 2001

Then Skerries Road Races 2001

Isle of Man TT Qualifying 2002

Ok if you're still with me I'm nearly done!

Stepped back from full on racing when I got back to NZ, and spent the next few years riding some beautiful post classics for Les Delacy, a couple of Aermacchi's and my favourite of all - a methanol burning Rob North replica Triumph Triple. Got to ride this beast at the Island Classic at Phillip Island which for me was right up there in life achievements 👌🏽.

In the meantime life got busy with yachting and kids, who are now frightening their mother by following dad's footsteps onto 2 wheels 🤣🤣🤣

Did a Wellington trip Friday night.Left Manukau 10.00 and in to Wellington(Grenada) by 7.30.Back to Palmy 10.00 am 10 Hr break and cruised home.

Havent been down there for almost 15 yrs. There should be more truck accidents. The curtesy has gone out of the industry, cowboys at night. Use to be general rule when going through the sisters, first near the bend had right of way and you slowed/stopped once pass ,proceed.Nah just go for it . Called a couple up on CB and said "cowboy" got told what I could do with myself.

Return home same place about 12.30am a guy with a quad approached first sister and bugger me,lucky I stopped, both sides of road, not going slow."Mate what time is the ferry" not till 8.00am."so whats the hurry" no reply

Bridge at Tauranga/Taupo. Old boy calls and I go over.Thanked him.Yep he said not many of us left.

Weigh stations all closed till level 2,no contact,so I guess a lot over hours and just going for it,extra trips, extra $$

Strange that vid from Smash Palace is titled F5000 when the car is an early Formula Atlantic with BDA, the Ferrari ad is a classic and reminds me of driving home up Parnell road and setting off all the car alarms with the noise from my  exhaust on the 7.

Who watching the MotoGP tonight?

i-TcL6GwV-L.jpg

"Marc Marquez arrived at Aragon as the clear favorite to win. Based on his record – five wins from seven races, and crashing out of the lead in a sixth – and on the fact that this is a counterclockwise circuit, like the Sachsenring. Before the Sachsenring, Marquez had a seventh, a ninth, and three DNFs, but he went on to win the race in Germany with ease, despite still not being completely fit."

I've always been a Rossi fan. These are a couple of interviews he did after announcing his retirement.

One certainly has to admire Marquez' talent but I can't say I'm a fan. Rossi's comment about him is amusing.

Twisty thanks for posting that, many people dont realise what he did for the sport. It got me thinking how dull, braindead and PR managed our top sailors appear in the media. No one leaves an impression, at least Dennis Connor had personality!

Vale is one of the reasons MotoGP is so popular today, a lot due to his natural charisma and talent. 26 years at the top level, 9 World titles and still so real.

Midnight tonight

I only watched the highlights but that was heart stopping racing over the final few laps, amazing stuff - Marquez has an amazing fan base also, apart from a brilliant riding ability!

Just in case any of you are into classic car racing as I am, Goodwood Revival is on this coming weekend and I believe they will be showing it on youtube so even non members can watch, it apart from LeMans classic is the best racing in the rarest (all genuine) cars you will ever see, and yes there are bikes racing too, the cars and drivers are stars but everybody gets into the spirit of the event and dresses in period gear
