I have a slot for one person or a couple on a well equipped 14m Cat for a 2 month (arrive back in NZ end of Oct approx) trip from Tahiti to NZ stopping at Surrouw ,Samoa and Fiji . Costs are a daily allowance for food - you would need to make your own way to Bora Bora around mid August or slightly earlier if you wanted some time in Bora Bora. For further details mail me on pzazz@myiridium.net Cheers

I looked at them when I was considering a home solar set up and thought they could be good for boats - the downside being slightly heavier (10%) than LA and slightly bigger but they do help bridge the gap to Lithium - would be good to hear from someone who has installed them on a boat

Looks great Adrian - maybe catch you in Fiji mid Sept + on our way down if you are around ....

I have a BEP solenoid with alarm detector /sensor for inside - quite handy as you have the sensor below the stove and hence should know if there is a gas leak or gas left on with no flame. Did have it go off continually a few years ago for no reason and had to replace the unit which was disappointing but been behaving ok since then

Having lived in the upper part of the Red Sea in the Sinai as a dive master for 18 months I feel it is such a shame that one of the most interesting but challenging places is basically a no go zone . As a dive destination the Red Sea is right among the very top destinations .

Interesting comments that it could have been caused by the leg and prop - I would have thought that an Aluminium hull hitting that at speed would have cut a hole before the leg or prop got anywhere near it???

Have seen her sailing in the Bay and thought she got along very nicely

Available from early May until end of October . Finger either side with padding on both sides - is nice and wide - current boat is 8:75m beam plus very handy to car park ( 2nd berth along the ramp -F7). Probably one of the more sheltered from the wind. $1000/month plus power Ph 0276238366

Agree - whangamumu wouldn’t be too much fun in NE

I have Sternlegs that retract out of the water ( Cat) so they are only submersed when motoring - on the original anodes still - 6 years plus . Being in the water especially in a marina where there are likely to be electrical currents is the killer

You would have thought it would be worth the Council reconsidering their stance - it would be a much better asset to the community if someone bought and restored for whatever purpose than just letting it become more of an eye sore.... It outlived its original purpose some time ago

I was told if the iridium worked ok without an external aerial ( ours does) a Go most likely will too- can’t confirm that from personal experience yet though

Sailor Jerry - if you are just going to do a temporary job I would try and identify the source of any leaks which are likely to be either from screw movement or places where the sealant is too thin . If a leak is from the screw and you are comfortable the window would be secure without that particular screw I would remove and fill the hole with sealant - for the rest of the outer area of sealant I would dig out as much as poss with the window in place so when you fill again the likelihood of a good seal is maximised . One of the tricky things is getting a good finish in the keying off - you c

They are rebated which allows for a good solid bed of sealant . Previously when they were screwed as well - the pressure from the screws had squeezed the sealant bed too thin . Being acrylic windows it also caused pressure points from expansion and contraction which shortened the lifespan of the windows

Having done a whole lot of windows in the last year I can say from my perspective that prep is important - the existing frame area needs to be cleaned up really well which is a messy job if the previous sealant is silicone based which I assume it is . Use a dam rubber and get a good bed of sealant - I did away with screws which had been in the windows previously and as mentioned above started to cause a few leaks. As long as the bed of sealant is sufficient it will hold the window fine without the need for screws. Ideally it is a 2 person job depending on the size of the window - having some

Although nowhere the same density as in the photo I was really disappointed when spending time in the Adriatic - Croatia ( 2 years ago) the amount of plastic floating around . There seemed little local awareness or initiatives to keep the area clear in an area that is vital for tourism and what would be the Countries biggest export earner . The contrast to how we try to protect our coastline here was really apparent .
