    New Genoa

Zoom Sails is a good option if you look overseas. Ex Kiwi guy who gets them built in a mega loft in Sri Lanka. We got a new Dacon furling Genoa from them last year. THe materials and workmanship are excellent.
  3. It's like the third cat this year to fall off a boat and swim ashore are Kawau! How/Why is this so common?
  4. For those of you who are fans of Alcohol Stoves:
  5. Also the YB tracker info is available on the Predict Wind app if you have that. It's under Tools > YB Events and then you add the race in the banner
  6. A west coast SW swell of 3m/10sec combined with a E 2m/8sec swell is not going to be nice at all. From Predict Wind:
  7. So that makes 5 withdrawals of a fleet of 20?
  8. Hi All Before I buy a new liferaft I thought I'd see if anyone has an inservice Cat1 liferaft they aren't going to use over winter (May-Oct) that I could rent off them? Obviously if I use it, I own it but that'll be the least of my issues! Cheers Adrian 021 229 4005
  9. Who retails the Carboline at a good price?
  10. Does anyone have a recommendation to where to get a flexible high pressure (1000psi) hose made up for a watermaker ? I need a new 2.5m long one for our Rainmain but its $250+ to get from supplier or made up at the shops I've visited so far. Seems like its the stainless ends that makes them expensive. I need a new and a spare, so its an expensive exercise!
  11. Sadly I feel it is required due to the derelict boats left to die on moorings around us. I don't worry about my boat breaking free, I worry about them hitting us.
  12. I went out and spent Saturday night and Sunday on my boat on the Mooring at Bayswater as I was a bit worried about my neighbours. Glad I did. One broke free and got stuck on another. They then bounced around upwind of me, so I spent three hours motoring the boat sideways to stay out of their path and ready to cut my mooring lines if needed. The Harbour master finally responded to my calls to them and coastguard, coming out and towing one away about 3 hrs after they hit.. A bit of a failing on the Harbour Master team here as I had emailed them late Jan telling them that the boat tha
  13. These guys actually do a really good podcast. Just listening to the Murray Jones one at the moment. The Will Oxley one is really interesting with his background on the Safety Panel. He also mentions this is not the first time he has failed to raise that yacht on VHF....

Predict Wind is miles better than the alternatives. Most other systems are showing you only one forecast from one model system, whereas Predict wind show you 6 different models. I find if they all agree, that's what you'll get. If they don't agree then you need to make a call as to which of them you believe but they also now do an analysis on which model has been most accurate recently, to help you figure out which to believe.
  15. On my Android phone I like Anchor Pro
  16. Buoy location from that Geonet page:
  17. Do you know a model/part number? I assume these with fit the 3YM30 as well as they both have the 3.15in dual foot mounting?
  18. Burling and Tuke couldn't sail for any of the major teams due to the new Nationality requirements. They could join an "Emerging Nation" team but these are at the discretion on ETNZ and I'd hazard a guess that would be vetoed. I'd say they are weighing up AC vs Olympics.
  19. I brought one of the fosters bits a while ago and tried with with my Ryobi battery drill. The battery drill just didn't have the grunt to lift me up, even on a 2:1 halyard and a Harken 40 winch. Maybe a better battery drill would but I'm thinking the smarter way for me is to use a 240v drill off my inverter - just way more grunt.
  20. Fosters do the bits but they don't look as heavy duty as the ultimate cranker. https://fostersshipchandlery.co.nz/products/ironsea-winch-bit https://fostersshipchandlery.co.nz/collections/winches/products/harken-drill-adapter-powered-crank-handle
  21. Has anyone found a cheap 240v tool that can do this job? I'm thinking for the rare time we need one of these to get me up the mast, we could plug in and run off our 3kw inverter.
  22. Hi All I have a old Briski folding prop of a Yammar SD20 and 3YM30 that I'm keeping as a spare in case I ever loose/damage the new Goris I put on to replace these Briskis. As its a spare, I rather carry a lighter fixed alloy prop than this folding one. So, do anyone want to swap me a lightweight fixed prop for my folding one? The Briski has done a lot of miles is isn't that new or tight. Pitch 16 x 14
  23. Yep. We laid a 12-15m 3 years ago and that was $6k Friends have just laid one next to ours and it was about $7k, so I'd say yours is the going rate.
  24. Sadly we have had to cancel the race this year. It's been a very tough decision for the NZMYC as we just wanted to RACE! Get ready for a really big one next year as it is the 40th anniversary of the race! https://www.coastalclassic.co.nz/post/pic-coastal-classic-flies-ap-flag-for-labour-weekend?fbclid=IwAR2lSwMeYYtnT5qpCEFTYhNHgH8WINVbJXghn8e8DEzuvqCJZXwKHcQM9bs
  25. Good thought. A couple of friends have theirs coming out the bottom of the bridgedeck, so will see how it is working for them. This guy puts his coming out the front of the bridgedeck, which would worry me on many levels!
