    Ovlov charges...

It’s all too easy to forget the very real cost of holding stock, especially in a low volume market like the marine industry. if you can wait for the drop shipped item from the us, and also the extra delay from COVID and potentially some justifiable interest from customs then go for it. If you need it tomorrow, it’s not unreasonable to pay for the convenience. I do concede the 400% markup quoted above does seem a bit rich though
  2. Rubbish, I want to, and do, use the trains every day. The northern motorway will soon be at a standstill In the mornings of all the bus users users permanently switch to cars. Just because you love your car doesn’t mean it’s the right solution for everyone. In the same vein busses and trains don’t suit everyone. the problem comes in that motorway upgrades are paid by central government, but public transport is only funded by local councils, both with very different political agendas
  3. Perhaps even just 1 decent 360 camera so you can look wherever you want
  4. yep, looking forward to it, hopefully this year we'll get to do all three courses!

    She's Back...

Yep, got that text too. Impressed that they took the initative and notified berth holders
  8. Social gatherings limited to 10.... I guess the 52's won't be racing for a little while longer
  9. And yet they have a massive waiting list....
  10. Note the Borderline pod wasn't for Cat 3. Remember you'll need at least 1.3m of headroom plus the bunks requirement

    2:1 halyard hardware

The equiplite stuff is nice but makes tylaska look cheap! I think the friction ring and soft shackle is going to be the way for now, just gotta sort out how to tie the shackle

    2:1 halyard hardware

sorry don't understand, soft shackle what onto what?
  13. I'm currently using a proper block for my 2:1 haylard, but would appreciate a bit more hoist height Arrangement at the moment is a plain bearing 1000kg SWL selden block, with the shackle going onto the top of the main te 8.5 class is airdraft limited so any gains in hoist height are a win. Looked at the offering from Tylaska, wichard, and Selden, any group experience with these? they llok nice but price wise they are up there for a shacke Halyard is 8mm (inc cover) dyneema type rope, suggestions, comments?
  14. Thompson 750's are faster than magics, looking at race track you'll be in the mix. Has deep purple really only ever done one race?
  15. Your best bet would be to muck in with the sports boats surely? They already have a good fleet, do windward leewards, will sail at similar angles and speeds, and have a good range of speeds from the magics upto the big bad shaws and biekers
  16. They are still taking my money.... In all seriousness westhaven still has dockmasters and security onsite, plus the liveaboards down my end going for their morning walk will probably keep an eye out for issues as well. All in all I'm pretty comfortable I'll be informed if there is anything essential which actually needs attention
  17. SMU has 174 miles to go and is doing 6.4 kts. They’ll be lucky to be in before it goes dark tomorrow

    Mahurangi 2020

Now I’m no rules expert but I think A6 has some explaining to do after their start line shenanigans from about 17 seconds in....

    Finn Gold Cup

You’re old and nostalgic???? But I agree, removing the Finn was a travesty that I hope one day will be reversed

    woolly jumper

If you are in the market for that size of boat I don’t think 1500 a month in marina fees is going to be a big issue. The catch is more likely to be the c. 2 year waiting list for a berth that size at Westhaven
  21. Came across this crowd, www.dockydock.com is this some new form of snake oil, or could it really be this simple? There do seem to be other crowds around, like www.boatbag.com.au, but they suggest putting some slow release chlorine in there as well. I've seen the fabdocks as well, but with their fancy fabrics, drain pumps and associated gubbins it seems like a lot of potential failure points Whats the catch I'm missing?
  22. Mr Kite will be in there somewhere, do the radio scheds get posted? I'm guessing by the time the first one is due tomorrow morning a good chunk of the fleet will be around the island
  23. Sounds awesome, would we expect the fleet to go inside or outside the mercs?
  24. Leaders have gybed, whats the nowcasting saying at channel?
