    Question

Yep after doing thorough research I too have changed to B&G triton.
  3. Yes quite a number of the boats are around 55, however I was referring to the person clinging to the tiller.
  4. Speaking of Townsons, which over 55 year old will win the Zephyr nationals? Any bets...
  5. Looked like you were having great fun as you wizzed past the Townson regatta with racing hairdo Clive.
  6. Serenita was from memory Euan Guys first Piedy and family boat, probably a victim of name changing too, a real pity the large number of Piedy's from Milford Creek did not attend the Townson Regatta in the weekend -well run by BBYC and in perfect sailing conditions, especially as they had been offered free berths at Bucks if the tide had worried them.
  7. Nope Puddleduck not Mercia
  8. Suspect Device, Red Label
  9. Couldn't agree more re name changing - cant help feeling that it has helped devalue the class, and the new owners have no idea of the top boats from the past. Party Piedy was Ragalag, Quandary now wrecked , Vestalia, Wiwiki now Rumgo, Mercia the original. Oananiche- think that was the spelling.
  10. Must be getting old, I remember seeing her being built just up the road
  11. monohulls are drier, just saying
  12. I hope they drag a few out of Wairau Cove, plenty in there these days
  13. Bit trickier on a yacht depending how averse you are to holes in the hull, assuming the sound shell is working as designed, exhaust first into conventional waterlock sized to suit the pipe size and volume then up to a water separator and drop straight out below water for the fluid and just above waterline for the gases, Vetus have all the bits available locally as do Northern Lights etc, It is the way most superyachts do it and is remarkably effective, there is a little more to it but that is the basic scenario without being specific about heights and so on
  14. I understand the requirement for AC on these boats, but have also been involved with installing many sets and there is rarely a good reason for them to be so noisy outside the vessel if installed correctly with a proper exhaust setup.
  15. This weekend is the annual Townson keel boat regatta off Browns Island run by the BBYC, so if you wish to see some classic kauri sliding round that's where they will be, 32's both days and the other designs just Saturday
  16. Boat in question starting to look real sad off Karaka Bay
  17. Over Easter I was once again reminded of the total ignorance of many launchies, running either main propulsion engines at high idle or improperly installed gensets just around sunset, and some in the early morning, what is the need for this surely with all that power they can survive over night? A modern genset should be almost imperceptible running by the other boats in the average Kiwi anchorage, not roaring and sploshing all the time I feel it is time to name and shame these polluters of a different kind.
  18. No you can lie them down, just on one side though- like all four stroke outboards, I have a Honda 2 bought in 89 still starts first pull.
  19. Thermostat working and allowing good flow on the fresh side?
  20. Milford Bridge control channel 73, or in desperation ph 3092485 PS Knot Me there is a miserable neglected racing L class that needs releasing from the creek, but I am sure you knew that....
  21. Positive changes, the operator answered VHF in the weekend and raised the bridge promptly.
  22. You guys certainly know how to make a man dig out the sextant and look for Mary Blewitts book, bugger it when I go home tonight I will go back to splicing the laid polyester.......

    diesel woes

My guess would also be fuel related, check all filters first as that could be restricting the engines ability to respond to load changes.
  24. I too was at the Devonport talk and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
