Sounds like the outbreak is in Suva, so if they stick to Denerau and outer islands may be ok?

Aha, there is the connection. Navaho required the chainplate strengthened, so Brass Tacks may require the same.

Rich guy puts weight behind anti-Waiheke Marina movement

Waiheke marina developer, opponents strike deal: no more court action on 186-berth project Waiheke Island's marina developer and opponents have reached a deal after years of court battles which ended at the Supreme Court. This concludes the four-year saga between Kennedy Point Boatharbour and SKP [Save Kennedy Point] Inc over the Kennedy Point Marina. Sebastian Cassie, SKP Inc chief executive, said his group would no longer challenge the marina project to create 186 berths. "SKP acknowledges that the marina consent has been approved and tested through every court," he said. SKP -
The reason why the Coastal Classic changed their starts so that slow boats start first is because they often struggle to make the finish time. The wind often shuts down early morning leaving the slower boats becalmed in the bay. This race is the same length for all boats. This is one of the only races that does this, and there is a known problem they are trying to solve. The reason why Wednesday night and Winter racing start the fast boats first, is to give them clear air and keep separation between the divisions. This helps reduce collisions and protests, and means that divisions are muc

Strange that none of the other clubs do it in reverse order! 🙄 Kinda ruins the first hour of your race starting first and being slowly rolled by a hundred faster yachts, never sailing below you, giving you dirty air. ☹️

Two men found guilty of scuttling boat in marine reserve near Waiheke Island In July 2019, Lanssen and Subritzky approached the boat’s owner, David Randell, and offered to dispose of the vessel for $10,000 after it had broken from its moorings during a storm and run aground on rocks near Whakanewha Reserve on Waiheke Island. The men came to an agreement Lanssen and Subritzy would salvage as much of the vessel as possible, before breaking down the masts and cabin and dropping them into the hull of the boat to be set on fire. The hull was then to be broken up and taken to landfill, whe

Looks like only one kiwi crew involved - Conrad Coleman.

Maybe no sea trials because they owe money to the hard stand. So need to sell the boat to pay the crane driver before he will put it in the water.

Please change the starting order back to one or two divisions every 5 minutes, and get rid of the split start line. The mass starts create far more chances for collisions, and a far bigger wind shadow meaning those who don't get the best start are more heavily disadvantaged, sailing in bad air for 10 minutes or more. Please change starting order so that fastest boats start first. With the small boats starting first means they get messed up for the first hour of the race with faster boats rolling them and giving them dirty air. There is a good reason why all the yacht clubs start divisio

Not sure why, but SSANZ has specifically excluded monos of 26 feet or less. Possibly because they are too slow, and will hold up the others at the stopovers? A Reactor 25 successfully completed the Solo Trans Tasman race in 2010. And the very first RNI race was won by a Mummery 25, with a Raven 26 third. All of these are excluded from the Northern triangle. So they are perfectly capable of sailing to Mangonui or Tauranga.

- Boats must be either a Monohull yacht bigger than 7.923m or a multihull yacht 10.0m or bigger, and must hold a current Category 3 Safety Certificate for the duration of the race. All other entry requirements as detailed in the Notice of Race must be met.

Boats must be over 26 feet. SR26 not allowed.

And in the 49ers NZ got first and third. Dunning-Beck first, Burling third, so who will go to the Olympics?

Fishing, diving and spearfishing to be banned in Mōtītī Protection Area A new marine protection area has been confirmed near Mōtītī Island, off the Bay of Plenty coast. The new blanket ban will mean recreational, commercial, and customary fishers, divers and spearfishers will no longer be allowed to anchor on or take marine life from the three reefs making up the Mōtītī Protection Area. These are Ōtaiti Astrolabe Reef which was the site of the 2011 Rena oil spill, Motuhaku Island Schooner Rocks and Motunau Plate Island. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/environment/442175/fishing-

Pandemic-related boat buying linked to Seaview Marina expansion as demand for berths soars Cashed-up boat buyers unable to travel are thought to be behind a spike in demand for berths that has resulted in a million-dollar expansion at a Lower Hutt marina. Seaview Marina is putting the finishing touches on a $1.2 million 46-berth extension and has plans to install an additional 31 which will allow the docks to hold more than 400 vessels. McLellan said Seaview was the biggest marina in the region and the only one with the ability to expand. Once the new berths were built, there w

Is the Sewer Beacon still there? If not, will the harbourmaster install a new one?

Looks like someone has added an extra paragraph to the start of that article: "In the wake of too many boating rescues, skippers leaving New Zealand for overseas ports are now required to obtain a Cat 1 safety certificate, which is sure to provoke mixed reactions among yachties. Have your say." That sentence does not appear on the press release on these sites: https://www.maritimenz.govt.nz/public/news/media-releases-2021/20210430a.asp https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO2104/S00236/new-requirements-for-pleasure-craft-departing-overseas.htm So looks like the editor of mysail

What about the heavy weather jib? Has to be exactly 70%? Anything smaller or larger is incompliant. Should they add "at most"? Sounds like Shakespeare's pound of flesh!
