    37th AC

Hopefully with lack of detail and challengers currently, a deed of gift challenge will materialize to inject some interest back and get some real sailing underway soon, TP52's anyone?

  6. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that the committee do nothing. We all know that SSANZ does a good job, and runs great events. Just wanted to praise the committee for adjusting the division splits after the entries have come in. This hasn't happened in recent years.

  10. Call out to the SSANZ committee members tonight who attended the Redress Hearing. And those who no doubt contributed behind the scenes. For past redress hearings I have had to represented myself. SSANZ committee, summarized all redresses into one protest, submitted it and represented all vessels requesting redress with their supplied evidence. Wow! Saved time, for the also volunteer protest committee as they did not need to run four protests back to back!

  12. Wow, quote of the year Andrew. Do you actually think we sit around with our hands in our pockets looking the other way? Remember we as a SSANZ committee are just enthusiastic sailors trying to juggle life, work, kids and putting on amazing events for you in what little spare time we have.

    Admirals Cup

Great to see this event back on the calendar, and with two competitive boats sailing under Squadron flag with Kiwis in the crew -channel race starts Saturday.
  16. as an alternative, we bought a retubed 2.6m ali-hull inflatable from Seafarer in Dairy Flat. We took in a hull with knackered tubes, they quoted on repair, then said "...but we have this one on the floor, you can have it for 10% discount on that quote, leave us your old hull..." No brainer. My brother had a similar hull retubed by them about two years ago, no issue with either of them.

    Dolphin RIBs

I'm not sure the repair side but I had a Dolphin RIB and it was great as the pontoons were quite large which gave good stability and load carrying plus it didn't leak

    Dolphin RIBs

I wouldn't do anywhere near them! I had Andrew at Dolphin do some repairs to an inflatable... poor communication, wasn't ready when promised, had to visit 4 times... final visit they hadn't even started on it and lost it in a pile so I waited while it was hunted out and then repaired while I waited.... Repair failed in a few months anyway.

    Dolphin RIBs

Are the Dolphin RIBs a good product. They seem a better price than the imports?
  20. I can assure you having previously been on the committee... that there is no hands in their pockets, looking the other way, pretending there was nothing they could do etc etc... Division cut offs / splits were regularly discussed (and passionately!)... but in a democratic system you need to have the numbers in support before making any changes. Just because something didn't change doesn't mean it wasn't discussed and debated. I think your post is poorly written putting a negative light on the committees of the past who all put in their time on a voluntary basis. Having said that It's always g

  22. We didn't rescue them. Coastguard took care of that. They capsized right in front of us, so of course we were first on station, it's what anyone would of done. We dropped the jib, and did laps around them while they recovered their grab bag and got themselves together and we ran the comms to Auckland Maritime for them. Drifting away from land they weren't in any danger, and after a while they requested we stand down and continue racing. Lots of boats came to their aid, Explore Racing who was out North, leading their division they came down dropped jib and main. Flying boat ju
  23. Incredible that after years of putting their hands in the their pockets, looking the other way, pretending there was nothing they could do - resulting in giant divisions with 40 boats - someone on the new committee has shown some initiative, adjusted the cutoffs, and evened up the divisions. Well done SSANZ!!
  24. Well done Carpe Diem on rescuing the flipped catamaran at Kawau!
  25. Does anyone have a SWR meter for marine vhf I could borrow? I recently replaced the mast wiring and I feel my vhf performance is degraded.
