    Cruisair A/C

Sounds a bit too fancy for my old clunker.
  2. That area has regular visits from large dolphin schools and pods of Orca.
  3. Yep,I have done it on the hard using a chain block. Just take your time and it is easy. And yes, don't rely just on the topping lift.
  4. I know of a Raven 26 who tried this manuover by dropping into a fiz boat. Bloody near went through the bottom of the fizzy. That was only an 8hp Yanmah.
  5. I find a good bash to windward gets rid of most slime except for the rudder which is easy to clean. Our boat is kept in Whitianga marina.
  6. I use Ultra 2 and find it ok. The main reason being that I can scrub it without watching all my antifoul disappear around the bay.
  7. I believe that would be the best option. Probably what I would have done if I had kept the Cav.
  8. I had a remotely located ZF box on our Cav 32. Took it to the agents and what a bloody disaster. Went in as a V drive and I got it back as a straight drive. That's what you get when the experts have a play with it. I would look at options away from V drive units.
  9. You are right. The Mercs are spectacular. Would be criminal to go past without stopping there.
  10. That's if they get prosecuted. Remember it is only LIKELY not will.
  11. What gets me is that they are only likely to face prosecution.
  12. Do you have to splice Spectra. Need to replace the wire to Kiwifurl drum which pulls back the spring loaded locking pin. Can I just tie the ends off without splicing.
  13. Why on a phone? Hope you are not still waiting up the top of Centennial Drive for the Tsunami.

    herald ban?

What happened to no personal attacks.
  15. Watched one poor Jav loose his rig before he even got in the boat. Got caught in the shore break, couldn't hold boat straight, capsized and rig went into sand. Next wave was too much for the rig. Carbon fibre mast snapped, sounded like a gunshot. Felt so sorry for them as it was only Saturday, so regatta over very early for them.
  16. You will get plenty of advise around the PYBC haulout yard. Not all of it good but much of it helpfull.
  17. The idiots have flipped it.
  18. Not a good day to haul out at PYBC. I have bailed out up there in less wind than probably getting today. Not ideal.
  19. You can rent the inside of the PYBC wharf for the night if required for the night. Just contact the office and i'm sure they will see you right.
  20. Why not the Whitsundays. Boats probably beeter maintained and Aussie bubble could be happening before the end of winter.

    Damn!!

I have a Gori 3 blade for sale if you are interested. 16.5 X 15 L/H 1" shaft. Was on a 28 hp Volvo pushing a Lotus 9.2. Found it very good with high thrust.
  22. I would seriously consider a Raven 26. Well balanced and ideal first keeler to teach the family how to sail and has as much interior volume as many older 30 footers. We had one for 13 years. Several trips up north with 2 kids on board. You adapt to the space you have. We would all love bigger boats but reality sets in and financial restraints rear thier ugly head.
  23. Had a ZF V drive from a 25hp isuzu in my Cav 32. Would never have another one. More trouble than it was worth. Had problems with it, took it to the agents who shall remain nameless. Got it back as a straight drive. How's that for technical experties. Couldn't believe my eyes. Needless to say we ended up in court.
