Maybe license the boats rather than the skipper? Like the Jet Skis do? It seems like there's enough rules but you need reporting and follow up which is hard when it's just "Generic 6m fizz boat"
-
Here are some accounts, Stats seem to be mainly around deaths that could have been prevented rather than accounts so anecdotal it is! http://www.safeboatingcampaign.com/life-jackets/saved-by-the-jacket/

Sounds like a diode or a join in a string of the cells has gone, 9v at Short isn't bad for a 100w panel but it is a touch low. For example here is a different 100w panels volts/amps curve: Can you get us a picture of the black box on the panel with it's lid off if it comes off? Under the glass on the panel can you see any black/soot like marks between cells?

Up north they are, Whangarei and Tutukaka I know first hand want proof of renewal 1 month prior to expiry otherwise please leave, I've heard the same for Opua atleast
-
Yep it's great in there, We missed our window to leave their last year and got caught in a 4 day easterly blow last Jan, Tutukaka was showing 70+ kn gusts and whilst it was bumpy in their it wasn't that bad. Really good pockets to hide behind on either side. You know you've messed up when your the only boat in the bay over summer tho!

We used this in the Telecommunications biz outdoor for waterproofing coax connections https://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/self-amalgamating-tapes/1921605/ Been to coastal sites 3+ years old and it's still had to be cut away. It works well, A few times we did have water make it's way in due to improper application so we added this: https://www.3mnz.co.nz/3M/en_NZ/company-nz/all-3m-products/~/3M-Scotchkote-Electrical-Coating-FD-440-mL/?N=5002385+3291082225&rt=rud over the top, havent had any issues so far

+1 on the Ryobi 1+ system. We have the drill (non-impact), dust buster, jig saw, sander and torch and it's all held up very well being in the boat full time. The batteries are pricey but they have last us 2 years so far of light to medium use and don't seem to have degraded much at all

Worked well in EU, Don't see any reason it wouldn't work well here

Starters have a relay close to the battery which limits the ability for a cable fault to when it's starting. A starter on a boat without a fuse/switch/relay would be able to fault at any time. edit:// Slightly false information, Starter relays can be on either + or - side of the starter so may or may not offer protection for a cable fault however would offer protection from an internal fault in the starter
-
Yeah I'm with IT here, MRBF at the battery terminal and alt to some form of a disconnect switch. any cable or internal fault would cause a fire. If you don't like the idea of a starter fuse blowing then put a bypass switch in. Even a small modern lead battery can chuck out 500-600-700+ amps. Plato whereabouts are you located?

Didn't know that! I would have thought with the amount of brackish fresh water this far up it wouldn't have come that far. Wonder if they dove our boat
-
As I said during the meeting a few years back NRC did out Whangarei Heads, NRC has to be lucky every single day to contain this, Fanworm only has to be lucky once to get into a new area Without a sustained simultaneous all points effort to eradicate it there's little point in trying to

Can you show your working BP? 14 boats needing help, 6 Cat 1 NZ Flag and 8 overseas flag's would seem to indicate NZ Flagged Cat 1's only made up 42% of rescues or 0.075% of all leaving vessels. Overseas flagged were 0.1% of all leaving vessels and 58% of all rescues.

Batteries installed in a device should be not DG's, NZ post allows 2 per parcel as long as they are within a device for example. As long as they aren't damaged
-
Moved for winter and had to adjust the lines the tide was so high, First time i've had to climb up to the boat in a while

To me, that's the mindset that divides eccentric from insane. He went and tried, Found issues and rather than push on he made the call to go back and start over. Not an easy choice to make

One thing to note with anodizing is damage is a bit harder to cover up, Any bumps and scrapes will go through the thin anodized layer and if colored will be a real PITA to fix up
-
Used it in our highwear onboard/offboard lip, Bubbled up in 6 months, Mostly all gone now 12 months later PIA to get off but just give it time and it'll do it itself

54watthours It's about 194,400 joules, which when drained over 1.7 seconds equates to 114kw output. High pulse cap's have been around for a while, The news with that unit is it's 166 Farad capacity ZL1EMI

Turn back now, this is one rabbit hole you dont wanna go down lol. I haven't seen EEStor in a while, they should be cellmates with Andrea Rossi by now, If EEStor with Lockheed Martin involvement couldn't produce a product for the US military with all the funding it entails in nearly 15 years then it's 99% vaporware. CH That battery is 54watthours, For perspective that's the same amount of juice you have in 5-6 cellphones, It's benifit is the fact it can dump what little juice is had in a 114kw burst which is about 20 households average peak power usage
