  1. Are you in Auckland? You could try Pipeline on Patiki Road, they are usually quite useful.
  2. I'm following this thread with interest - I've got a theory that eventually it will get back on topic.
  3. Where are you getting your facts from? This doesn't tally with my understanding of the issue. Some links would be useful.
  4. Ah, the difference in media from then to now. If that was reported in the Harold today, it would be all about how much money was involved, who was responsible, quotes from random unconnected people and some "opinion" from people who are "experts"......
  5. I've always liked: "Money doesn't buy you happiness, it just lets you look for it in more places". I've gone back to my default Am Cup setting: "Meh".
  6. Interprotect is fab BUT sand it asap. It sets as hard as stone after a while.

  8. This weekend saw the first use in anger of our Cubic Mini. Loved it although I needed to work out a way to prevent back-drafts (it was gusting over 50...). Once I had that in place, awesome! https://cubicminiwoodstoves.com/

  10. We run a Waeco 40l, it can freeze but we have only used it as a beer fridge. Happy with it. Have also used Engels and they are very good too.

  13. Geez think of the money you'll save on anodes....
  14. Rubbish. The argument involves increasing levels of mindless and meaningless bureaucracy imposed by folk who have no clear levels of experience (at least the last head fella anyway). "Freedom" doesn't come into it and this discussion hasn't needed to debate whether or not it should be permissable.
  15. 21 Pleasure craft departing for overseas (1) No master of a pleasure craft shall permit that pleasure craft to depart from any port in New Zealand for any place outside New Zealand unless— (a) the Director has been notified in writing of the proposed voyage and the full name of the person who is in command of the pleasure craft; and (b) the Director is satisfied that the pleasure craft and its safety equipment are adequate for the voyage; and (c) the Director is satisfied that the pleasure craft is adequately crewed for the voyage; and (d) the pleasure craft and the master compl
  16. What is it about "given permission to depart" makes me want to throw my toys out of the cot?
  17. All the yards in Whangarei allow living aboard. It ain't Aucklandistan.

Benefit of SSB are nets where you can listen in and find out where everyone is. Entertainment at sea....
  20. We have phoned the Harbourmaster and asked him. Last time we were able to pick up a huge mooring for a few days and they seemed to forget to charge us!
  21. Actually I was reliving my years on superyachts. But if you say it's the regs, so be it! 😉
  22. I would suspect it stems from the natural arse-f*ckery of superyacht owners who would want to install one to show other superyacht owners that their superyacht was big enough to have red lights to warn off low-flying aircraft.
