does anybody have a link to the tracker that works today? I seem unable to open the tracker page clicking on the link RAYC provide where as yesterday I did, albeit breifly
  2. thanks IT, boat down country so probably practical for you. Its a production boat late 70s early 80s I guess, fibreglass french built can you expand? I'm hearing "too high" = high millivolt reading which means under protected? What do you mean by "boat will corrode"? Ditto too much protection means the millivolt reading is low? What are "other issues" you allude to? I can tell you that fouling doesn't seem to be an issue whether its because of boat location or superior anti foul etc I wouldn't know
  3. I've heard b4 today that its possible to over zinc (have to much cathodic protection) but never had it explained what it means in a practical sense. Got a mate whose Jeanneau has 4 anodes, rudder/shaft/ and one each side of keel.while tightening the nut that holds one of the keel anodes the threaded stud broke off -i know him well enough to believe he wasn't going gangbusters on the lever - and now he's talking exposing the top of and pulling encapsulated keel bolts just to see if he has a can of worms or not. He made observation that the keel anodes haven't degraded at all where as rudder a
  4. "I thought they would likely provide a distraction..." Like when a kid goes in candy store. Wait a minute - is it April already?
  5. as I understand it Easterly 30s are great boats, stiff and while theres more to it than just that, you could make worse choices. I maybe wrong (again) but I think a few have gone farther afield quite successfully
  6. stop thinking Plato. You're a nice guy/girl judging by the way you approached this - but stop. Get to know them, even talk to them about cat 1 rules as Kev suggested, but whatever you do discard his final solution That is the Fun Police talking
  7. TNZ at the front again. Good on em. Sort of a shame that the race period is so short. Would be cool to see these beasts up close and personal so to speak but the rigmarole required to get out there and back for such a short period puts me off doing anything other than renting a bar stool.
  8. There was a thread about this a while back and I'm sure there is a company in Dairy Flat? who is happy to repair and good at it. Anybody know who that company is or how I can find the thread? I searched on inflatable repairs but didn't give me the result I was hoping for.
  9. I recall boat master tutor Ted Chappell years ago telling us he'd been conned into a coastguard training video for MOB. By the time they did it the second time (light....action... camera, take 2 don't ya know) he was hypothermic. Reckons he was in the piss off Brown's Is for about 50 minutes all up. He maintains he only survived because he insisted on a wetsuit..
  10. I thought the guy was gonna fumble the final catch but yep - pretty awesome to watch. It's a shame that this is as close as many of us will ever get.
  11. Woopsy...wrong race..i meant this to do with Melbourne Osaka.
  12. From videos on race home page it seems that the lead boat (Morning Star?) started on its own. I was expecting a more traditional start -all boats at once. Or have I viewed the wrong video

  14. out of respect for the sailor and his family Matt, I'd like to see this thread cease. There is no room for speculative comments, no questions to be answered, and while there is plenty to discuss this isn't the place or the time. Its just bloody sad. RIP John Fisher
  15. Despite all that, I think it would be cool to host it here I just don't think it will happen and I for one would think the holder has reason to rush off elesewhere. Shame really. 75 foot foilers - that's pretty awesome..
  16. Can't imagine Italy being any more organised than us though. Or maybe if you've got enough money over there you just bulldoze your way through and get what you want. U r quite probably right but Auckland can't afford this shambles and so I reckon give it to the lowest bidder. It's a hospital pass..
  17. Ciao Dalts. Please, defend the mug in Italy, but do us a favour - act before the council spends more of our money on this crap.
  18. sort of brings into question the wisdom of US Navy leaving the vessel afloat. As VOR lady reports it is a hazard on many levels. Would a big ship would mow it down and not notice? I reckon the bloody mad owner should be made to recover the vessel.

    Lost Dinghy

easily explained.. rum rats. bastards are on most boats, and always leave before you get up.
