Island Time 804
40ft Farr design, must be like a Farr 40, surely. Maybe the odd extra creature comfort but that would just keep the crew at a higher peak of efficiency, so maybe a bit better than the average Farr 40 what with that extra efficiency and all Yeah, I wish. Lets see - T keel - No. Swept spreader with square top - No, No interior - No. Nice, wide flat aft hull to promote planing and surfing - No. Large wardrobe of exotic sails - No. Modern hull with great from stability and light weight - No.... OK, maybe the other side of the coin then; Shallow, wide and longish keel - with a Jandal - YES! Dacron Sails - YES! Inline spreaders on non taper mast and piss all rig control - YES! Lots of additional drag (Wind Gen, Solar etc) YES! Owner who's too ^^%$% lazy to remove all the cruising sh*t YES. Canvas work and clears to hide behind if its cold/wet - YES! Microwave for hot food, and even central heating - Yes!... Surely I'm doing better on this side! Oh sh*t, this is a RACE????

Island Time 804
Looks like it might be a bit fresh... maybe I should have stayed in no xtras! Dont have a heavy kite.... if only funds were no object!
Jon 159
Starting to look like the worst of it may blow through by later in the afternoon Tide starts coming in at 1500hrs so you won’t want to be finishing after 2100hrs in a dying breeze
formula 2
i hear ya island time.i think the bright orange front sail will be out for the beat back from black rocks to durvilles(the boats beautifully balanced with main and storm jib in 35-40).i got the sail built 4 years ago and its got really nice shape to it. we too have not got a small genaker but on list for next year will be a top down furler for genakers to make dropping easier. this year our aim was to see what is needed on boat for 2 handed racing and then spend the next 12months scrimping and saving to hopefully be stronger next year. Island Time 804
Yeah, sail selection is somewhat limited. Roller furled headsail and reefed main to weather, big kite or A2 downwind, or poled out headsail. I dont think it will be enough to justify the storm sails.... waikiore 91
Look forward to seeing if any of the current young Piedy sailors will hang up a good old fashioned squadron kite after the start and let her go... They all seem to run smaller kites now?
