IT - have the regs/standards been updated now for LFP?
-
If we look at the 2023-2024 annual report , YNZ members contribute circa $640-650k per annum, with the bulk of funding( millions) coming from grants, sponsorship and philanthropy - interestingly the expenditure on admininstration was a few thousand less than the members' contributions. The amount the members contribute is arguably trivial relative to YNZ annual budget and expenditure. The annual report outlined a circa 2023-2024 700k trading loss. How long can or should the members tolerate that loss continuing? If it was you local club running that kind of loss...heads would roll right?

Here's some old ones from two NW Pacific Boats. ross930.xlsx

Through an inverter off a lithium bank on a Garcia 52. Running Starlink by far the biggest draw on a daily basis other than the watermaker. Interesting philosophical comments not wanting to be connected. The boat wouldn't exist without the ability to pay for it; and with a budgeted opex of minimum 130k kiwi per annum - I think being connected to the things that fund annual activities necessary. The plan for the next few years at least is for the boat to be used 3-6 mnths each year at present there remains a need for the boat owner to be able to engage and direct his business interests in real

Just did two months cruising around Normandy, Southern UK, Isle of Scilly, Wales, Ireland, Western Highlands and Outer Hebrides etc. My Brother was able to run a business MS team meeting no problem, while I sailed the boat around the Lizard, as well as access server documents etc no issue...game-changer for remote-working. Geo-fencing was super-strict up the Irish Sea and in parts of South East England. Awesome for weather, Predict-wind, streaming music, movies, and CFD trading all now readily accessible.

It is happening here too; I 'd imagine there will be alot of abandoned boats after this one....some of the fouling on the moored boats is bad. https://us11.campaign-archive.com/?u=5e10fe869a2e9e83ca78a1606&id=7413c1a666

We were on the water, courseside on both Saturday and Sunday. We had sailors on the boat ( a Young 11) who had been to the last AC in Auckland and said that the SailGP set up was far superior. The action just that much closer. On Sunday we were anchored to leeward of the entry to the start box which meant we were very close to all the pre-start set-up and jostling. The speed, combined with the noise of the boats made for pretty exciting viewing. The event was very fortunate with the weather, although March is normally pretty settled ...in the last 24 hours we have have had average winds

Fiordland incursion was Undaria sp. I think...

From a purely rational perspective - it is cheaper to simply buy a new unit at $399 on special with a 10 year service and battery life that the manufacturer certifies. To dispose of a unit, you simply break the unit open and disconnect the power supply - then dispose of the battery carefully.

Brad - that's really interesting-can you help with approx scale please?

I sold the last RM69 components that Burnsco had in stock several years ago - it was the full RM69 toilet and it went into Flying Machine an Y88 based in Lyttelton. They were considerably lighter than current offerings from Jabsco etc.

have you bought a new boat?

looks like it went aground somewhere...were are the rudders , shafts props, instruments ,squabs etc...

So I now have had a response from YNZ . The multiple club affiliated members are assessed as at 31 March (EOFY I assume) in any year. Weird assessment time in my view. Therefore to be eligible for an YNZ affiliation fee refund you have to nominate your primary club; then complete the attached form; and then get each club and its commodore you do not wish to pay an affiliation fee (or seek an affiliation refund from) to sign the attached form to be able to apply for a refund from YNZ on your behalf. Interesting isn't it Eliott5.9 is 0.6kw x 5.9m ( elliott 5.9) =3.54kw OR 0.25hp x19.357 feet= 4.839hp (not 4.7472hp!) - quite a diffence - the rule is an ASS. So to race a 5.9 in an open trailer yacht event you would need a 5hp motor. A 5hp motor on a 5.9 isn't going to make it any safer in 40 Knots plus...

Jono - same old, same old - NZTYA have self determined to a very strange place...So many opportunties to be inclusive and progressive...just not. Higly predictable and boring.

I'm not sure the modified Elders ever met this rule either... (i) The internal cabin length (excluding area under the cockpit) shall be not less than 40 percent of the overall length of the yacht excluding any prod or bowsprit.

I think most clubs would simply say XYZ did not pay the full single membership fee as passed at the last club AGM and therefore their membership has been revoked...

I spoke with YNZ today after waiting over a week for any sort of reply to my previous phone call. The staff member I spoke with was very polite and very aware of my previous enquiry via another staff member, and had my contact details. It was outlined that a staff meeting was being scheduled to discuss my query (and no doubt others) on how YNZ would proceed. I mentioned the 2017 resolution and that it wasn't a particularly good look that YNZ appeared to be ignoring a resolution of its Board at an AGM. Apparently, it was also discussed in 2019 ( haven't bothered checking). It was confirmed as a

the rationale is armourplated... so DP no doubt as a member of multiple clubs you have no issue contributing to YNZ multiple times?
-
Intresting isn't it...so if I applied and became an individual YNZ member would the clubs I'm a member of still charge me or pay an SEM or similar fee for each of my memberships? Or could I apply for an exemption because I'm an individual member of YNZ?
